thanx for the reply , like the articluation in your vid clip too .
I have been told that the 105 is possibly the WORST TOYOTA LANDCRUISER EVER MADE
and that the front diff is a Hilux center ????
Love the concepts of a vynal interior for cleaning out ...
also the interior size is great .... What models have live axles ???
once again many thanx in advance

Guys
The 105 runs a lower ratio than 80 cruisers, and 80's break front diffs too...they went 8 inch to fit the motor straight in the middle of the engine bay to help with cooling aswell as handling and sprung weight...thats why they are so good to ride in...back the the diff...u can strengthern them 100% by fitting a air locker...never snatch in reverse or give full power in reverse...the break in reverse not in forward...so driving style is a certain amount of the fault aswell....yes all us cruiser heads have had it good breakage wise with the 60 and earlier...but the 80 rides sooooo good...its hard recalling how bad a 60 handled till you get back in one...
The 100 being the worst 4wd....maybe if you r talking strength...but what about the best low gear ratios or the best brakes bar none...or the extra room and comfort and dual airbags....im suggesting it all depends on your standpoint....i think they are the second best ever made.....only the 80 is better :@)

the break in reverse not in forward...
I can asure you they can break going forward at 1500rpm with both wheels on the ground.
Fitting a locker won't make the teeth on the crownwheel stronger.
105s is still a great truck & when the front diff is fixed it's the best.

I will suggest that at 1500 with both wheels on the ground, you must have abused it down the track some...before it broke.....and secondly, the reason the teeth break is because the open centre has two large windows to get the sungears in and out, and thats where the ringgear is not supported well enough, and where the teeth disappear from ....an air locker is a solid lump of metal and supports the ring 100% better....even an old lsd from a lux will strengthen a front diff...JOHNZ wrote:the break in reverse not in forward...

The crownwheel was brand new & fitted with a new detroit locker & had 4 hours of 4wdriving under it's belt.dow50r wrote:I will suggest that at 1500 with both wheels on the ground, you must have abused it down the track some...before it broke.....and secondly, the reason the teeth break is because the open centre has two large windows to get the sungears in and out, and thats where the ringgear is not supported well enough, and where the teeth disappear from ....an air locker is a solid lump of metal and supports the ring 100% better....even an old lsd from a lux will strengthen a front diff...JOHNZ wrote:the break in reverse not in forward...

Diff no 2 was fitted with an air locker lasted 6hrs.???????
Both breakages were witnessed by forum members
100/105 broken front diffs are as common as anything.
I just got a PM from another forum member who just did his 3rd front diff want to know how I spliced mine.

true it doesnt make the teeth stronger, but it does stop the carrier from flexin which is wat the AIR LOCKER will do..JOHNZ wrote: Fitting a locker won't make the teeth on the crownwheel stronger.

I only broke one diff then went straight to the air locker.. have ran 38's on it for 2 years now and 36's for 2 years b4 that and never broke a diff. and they are 4.88's which are weaker than 4.11's..
Back to the 100.. only one thing beats a 100 and thats a 80

Re: Toyota HZJ100 -105 info sort pleasse
fix for the front diff is an air locker and a good set of aftermarket gears
that way you can break cv's
then upgrade them to longfields
