The private competition was good and we really were neck and neck till the end  Have just been speaking to Todd Joyce for the last hour and he said the red rocket is ready to go and he and Verena are keen to get back to Broken Hill for another week of shear hell

Todd also said that presentation was back out at the Silverton Pub this year so might have to make a flying visit on the presentation weekend just to catch up and have a few bourbons

Best of luck to you and Sean ;)

Two teams from Esperance WA have left - two nissan V8's  . Ashley and Adrian from last year now are both competing as drivers with new navi's.

Been very busy last few weeks, two weeks ago Ashley's car was not running, finally got the computer sorted on the 6L v8. Adrian destroyed 5th gear on Saturday morning - but was fixed in time before leaving

Have heard from Jonesy and Danni. All teams seem to have arrived and got through scrutineering ok. There getting a fair bit of rain in Broken Hill and the drains in town are flooded  Looks like it may be a wet week for the teams  But there may also be some concern of road closures throughout the week as well :bad-words: Will hopefully get some more reports later tonight after SS1. Stay tuned.............

Cheers ;)

MMMMMMM.......Its soggy out here we are just about to head out to nine mile (as long as that 2 k's of dirt is usable :? )

Can't wait to see what will happen if this keeps up.

I would post pic's but have no idea how to (PM me the very very basic instructions anyone who knows ) Watchn the road trains gettin thru town was fun!! easy two foot of water at some low points and the power went out for a short time too.

Bye for now Trudi / Danni

Spoke to Al Moysey this afternoon, 45 teams there and it had been raining for around two hours.

Kill Bill (Bill Tsaousis) has already broken his vehicle.... the OBC certainly is not his event. Last year he only made it to Even Stevens on Saturday night before he retired with engine failure. Al told me that Bill hit a stump on a practivce run in a creek yeasterday and ripped the front end out of his car....... madly trying to get it repaired to be back in.

Good luck to all those competing, damp sand tonight should make for some quick times....

Steph and I are both feeling bad today becasue we are not there......

Have just spoken to Jonesy and crew who are still out at Nine Mile watching the action around a campfire  Rain has stopped for know.

~ Darren Green has the quickest time so far with a 2mins 58 secs

~ Grot from WA is second with a 3mins 01secs.

~ Rohan & Wayne had a time of 3mins 8secs.

~ Todd & Verena Joyce had a time of 3mins 10secs.

~ Al Moysey & Justin had a time of 3mins 15secs.

~ The 2 Taiwanese entries can drive very well. There vehicles are Suzuki's with 4cyl. turbo petrols and absolutely fly. One of them also had a time of 3mins 15secs.

~ Kill Bill has sorted out his front end and ran tonight

~ Don't have any other times as phone call had poor reception :bad-words:

~ Not many vehicles left to run so looks like a fairly early night.

~ Should get final top 10 placings later on tonight ;)

2nd - Adrian & Lee (WA) 2:50

3rd - Coops & Hummer 2:51

4th - Greeny & Bruce 2:58

~ Paul Gamble rumoured to have had engine bay fire in the 80 series. Dripping flames (possibly auto fluid) from under engine bay when returning to parc ferme. Not sure of extent of damage.

~ Barry (?) driving a rangie broke a steering box and hit a tree close to the end of the stage. Not sure whether he DNF'd or the extent of damage.

These updates are all unofficial so please don't shoot the messenger if any details are incorrect but I'm sure most would rather unofficial updates than none at all :D

G'day Fish and Tigger, Al Moysey's past Co- Driver Adam Here.

Even with all the problems with Al,s car last year i wish i was back there in 2007!

Cant wait to see some pic's with all the rain etc.

Should make the comp very interesting!

look forward to living the OBC through outer limits.......almost like being there.....almolst.

Hope to see later in the year, i will jump back in with Al to do some local events... assuming the Rangie comes back in one piece.

Does anyone know if the PGS boys made it? i hear they have had nothing but probs getting the truck together.

Good to hear from you Adam ;) All of us who are stuck here on Outers trying to get updates wish we were there too mate!

I'm hoping to head up sometime on Wednesday arvo or Thursday for a first hand taste of the action as hearing about it over the phone plain and simply sucks :bad-words: I'll get to see group D which includes Todd & Verena Joyce, Big Al & Justin, Lawrie & Sean and Piglet & Skiddy. Should be a good group to watch

I don't have much details from today but here goes anyway.

~ Don't have any results from today but the word is the Thai guys were once again flying and a good chance they won one if not both stages today at the Prologue. They have mid/rear mounted PTO winches which haul arse!

~ Many broken ropes today :bad-words:

~ Al McMullen has a couple of serious problems with the Jeep and is staying in town tonight electing to miss the night mud stage at Viewmont (DNS and 100 point penalty). His power steering pump fried itself. I think he had problems with the pump last year also. His other problem is the water pump is slipping when the belt is wet due to the tensioner not applying enough tension. This is resulting with overheating problems :bad-words:

~ Rohan Canavan & Wayne Smith had a DNF on the second stage today due to winch gearbox problems and have had to also get outside assistance resulting in a 100 point penalty. They are going to struggle to defend last years win with that sort of start to the week.

~ The courses today were a lot tighter than last year but shorter.

Thats all for now but hopefully some others have heard some news from todays competition.

Cheers ;)
