I rescently called a diesel place about what can be done to 'work the guts' out of a 12ht. All the usual things were said ie intercool, more boost, ceramic coating and injector pump work.
What exactly is done to an injector pump when it is 'worked' (is it honed and given bigger 'stuff')?
How much does it cost?
Has anyone worked the absolute guts out of one these things?
What was done?
What did it cost you and what were your original power results compared to the new ones?)
Thanks.

12ht injector pump work?
62 was Petrol, now 12ht ! Body lift, lockers, spring lift, reverse offset rocrawler...? rims, NO RUST, some more stufffff....
You need to set a power output and work to a plan from that, carefully matching all your pieces to make a total package.
Working an injector pump means making the unit delivery more fuel at no boost, mid boost and full boost level, if so fitting bigger pumping elements, then resetting it on a dyno. Costs involved could be very expensive, as standard pump o/hauls for these range from $1100-2400 dpending on condition of pump components. These engines only rev to about 3500, you have a very limited power range.
Hope this helps.

What figures have been reached with these engines?
I've been told (Coated pistons, high flow CT 26 at 18 psi, I/C, and injector pump work, engine rebuild) these engines can produce over 700 NM of torque.... does that sound reasonable?
Are the pump 'elements' available to buy of the shelf or do I need to machine them myself?
Wanting to learn more about diesels, I would like to do most of the mod's myself. (Have access to all sorts of lovely machines including CNC mills and lathes).

If you cnc will machine to tolerances of 1-2 microns, with a perfect ground finish, then youmay be able to make these. It is definately not a diy job to do the pump. Elemnts im sure would be avaialble once source from a larger pump.
As to power and torque I have no figures to produce, you may have to be a guinea pig.
Im sure 100 rwkw could be reached, if not higher.
