16x6.5 rim vs 15x8in rim - tyre choices
I currently have 15x8 sunrasia rims on my feroza, and they look great. My only problem is, being 15in rims... the supply of 2nd hand 15in tires is scarce.
I have just found a set of alloy rims off a vitara for a very nice price, which are 16x6.5in which would mean i could go into almost any tire shop and pick up a set of 2nd hand 4x4 tyres very easily
My question is... is a 6.5in wide rim going to be a problem if i want to fit 9in or 10in wide tires?

Why would you want second hand tyres ???????????
15" tyres are cheaper new and I didn't think they were scarce.
If you spend your money on getting new tyres rather than new rims, Your Feroza's diff and gearbox will thank you for it.......for not having two tyres with slightly different rolling diameters causing wind up with increased potential to break CV's / Axles.

You'd be amazed how many people will do something silly... like take off a 1/2 used set of All terrains and buy mud terrains, leaving the perfectly good A/T's at the tyre place.
The last set cost me under $100... the problem is finding them in 15in!!!

16x6.5JJ - 25 offset will be a great rim for Your rig. Why? The same diameter tire will be lighter comparing with 15" rim version. That's important in IFS vehicle. Also, there's a lot of cool tires sizes on 16", i mean high and narrow. You may try 235/85/16 instead 31/10.5/15 - in my opinion this will be better.
IFS is not as though as Solid Axle is - that's why lighter wheel is better. 16" rim means less rubber than in the same diameter tire on 15" rim. Also most 15" tires are Full Floation sizes - wide, like 31/10.5/15 or 33/12.5/15. You don't need so wide tires in light Feroza, but they will put more stress on whole drivetrain and "eat" more power. Feroza on 235/85/16 will be VERY off road capable, yet You will have enough power to drive it on road with no problems.
You do realise that's equivalent to a 32" tyre? You cannot put a 10" wide tyre on a 6.5" rim.. it would be dangerous and it would look funny
The offset also seems a LOT less, so your track will be decreased too.
If you go 4x4ing, alloy rims can be broken more easily then a steel rim.
Especially in a 16" rim, you have less rubber protecting it, and less tyre to bag out under low pressures.

now thats something i dont want... my feroza has always been very floaty to drive at higher speeds... after putting on the 8in rims with the much wider offset, i increased the track nearly 2in... making it MUCH more stable... i dont really wanna go back to the way it was.You cannot put a 10" wide tyre on a 6.5" rim.. it would be dangerous and it would look funny

You're right, but anyway, my Pal is using stock 15" alloy rims in vitara with 235/75/15 tires and although he's doing what he can do destroy this car, rims are still ok. Steel rims are usually tougher and easier to repear in any workshop, but it doesn't mean alloys are uselles in off-road driving.If you go 4x4ing, alloy rims can be broken more easily then a steel rim.

6.5" rims are a bit narrow to take many tyres, from what I can see not suitable for 10.5 wide. There are some tall and narrow around but their perhaps not an ideal tyre for a daily driver.
and 32's on a Feroza woudl be a bit useless in the gearing department, I am not sure what people call hardcore 4WD but a roza on 32's won't have the gearing to do my version of medium let alone hard.
Its the Achillies heel of Feroza's, cant get the gearing right because of the lack of t case ratios.

WTF, using the clutch to crawl is retarded. First you root your clutch straight up. Second, as you attempt to climb, say out of a rut, whilst slipping the clutch, you hit the lip and the extra load on the drive train causes the car to stop, as the clutch is not fully released and allows the slip there. Get your foot of the clutch and drive properly.

just put 16 x 7 in f100 rims on ,new sunraisers with 245 /75/ 16 on my rocky ute. looks tops and they fit on my feroza to $100 per rim new .rocky utes come standard with 16x4.5 rims . i did this because you can get more 16in tires than 15 in as 16 in is standard on all new trucks.
vitara rims not enough off set for rocky they hit the spring hangers.just swapted to f100 or f150 .
