HI guys. has any one done a spring over to the rear of a 85 pajero?

Is there a reason you want to do this? Remember the front is ifs and you will only get 2 or so inches out of it.

i have made new upper wish bones for the front end which will give me a extra 70mm on top of the 50mm buy winding up the torsion bars alone.
Reindexing the torsion bars by 3 splines will be necasary.
My main reson for asking the question is to get some feed back on the body roll i can expect.
i have a 85 lwb pajero and will be fitting 33"mtz's so over all should come out with the whole vichle sitting approx 200mm taller than standard.

Got pics of these new wishbones? I don't think you will find someone who has done a springover but you never know.

I only made them up on the weekend.
They are currently at the engineers being mig welded up.
when i get them back i would be happy to take some pics to show you.
In the meen time i can tell you that to make them required a spare standard set of upper wish bones which were basically cut in half and the section that houses the ball joint was lowered by 70mm to allow more upper bump stop travel .

when you say springover you mean your going to do a SAS in the front right? :) :armsup:

WHY? :?
whats the point if the front is still IFS? i lifted the rear in mine and drove around for a few hours before lifting the front and it felt horrible :x
how much lift would you gain from a springover in the rear? 4-5 inches?
and then you could get 3 in the front at best? it still fould feel like carp

You can't get enough lift from the front to match the lift of a rear spring-over. It's only really feasible if you're going SAS.

Solid Axle Swap - pull out all the IFS stuff, and bolt in a solid axle. Difficult to find a suitable axle in Aus, most build a custom converted Toyota axle. I'm sure we'll soon know if I'm wrong. :D

why?? cause i can and what else would be better than going any where the so called big boys do but with a pajero. 85 model as well.
I'd like to see the looks on their faces when a pajero goes as far or further than they can.

If it's something along the lines of spacing the sub frame and relocating the torsion bar to the top wishbone, it's been done. ;)

From what i've seen the most anyone has got out of the front keeping the ifs is with
-the balljoint flip
-the thai lift

So i think the answer is no. Do you really need to do a springover?? Why not extend shackles and higher leaf springs?

currently dont have the money for higher leaf springs and I tried the extended shackle thing and bent the rear of the leafs when the shackles inverted.

Hey myshout, i know what you mean about the mods to your front, my mate did similar to his ( the paj from tuff truck ) before going a SAS, but he didn't go spring over in rear just longer shackles and raised leaves till he went 1/4 elliptic, but it was about the hight your thinking of and it was fine as far as body roll went with no swaybar, my scout's SOA ( no swaybars ) and it has less body roll than any coil sprung rig with small lift and swaybars.

In short you will notice a little bit more body roll but nothin that will make it feel unstable, depending on how good you leaves are of cause.

And thats my 2cents, but hope it helps.

With some trimming to the guards you should be able to fit 35's which will add a bit more width to it to help with the stability. ;)

Your 2 cents worth is much appreciated. I have installed 2" lifted ironman leafs 12 months ago. :)
