Car Engineering - Engine Only?

Post by greg »

Hi All,

I'm just wondering if it is possible to have an engineer approve certain mods on your car rather than doing a complete roadworthy over the whole car?

For example, i'd like to get an engine installation approved so that i can have a compliance plate for just the engine number to match the rest of the car. Does this sound possible?

Thanks,
Greg

yes, the eng. may approve specific items, but they will want the vehicle to meet adr's for the year of build or year of motor ( whichever is latest)
e.g- 2 speed wipers, windscreen demistor, catalytic convertor, lap/shash seatbelts.
best way is to approach an engineer and ask. do it sooner than later.
if you don't know of one, ask around at 4wd clubs or 4wd workshops.

Engineers ???

Post by Meldge »

Guys,

Where can I find a few Engineers in the Brisbane area.
Should I just go to places like Redlands 4x4 or Extreme 4x4, or are their other engineers that could be more specific to certain rules and regs...

The reason I ask is cause I am building a LandCruiser MWB FRP TOP.
Want it to be big, cut guards away a bit for extra room, maybe even fit Bag Susp. if will suit driving style, things like that. Would like to fit 35's on road and bigger offroad, reson for cutting guards.

I have seen plenty of cars in mags, that scrubb big tyres on guards, thats why I want to have it cut away, two inches will go on the front with reshaping the inners, and to get it matching on the rear, I would need new tubs made up.

And for all that, I need an engineer.
