Longer than all the other components in the car!

They are an old school, bombproof motor (mostly).
500 000 is not unheard of.

Just killed our XJ 4.0L with only 135,000 on the clock.....but it had been fairly abused and I'd basically cooked the engine twice and now the piston skirts have gone in #4 cylinder....
But a replacement engine wasn't that expensive (will be fitting it this weekend) and then I plan to rebuild the old engine bored & stroked ;)

Don't let my expeience put you off - overall thy are a solid an reliable donk.

Best option is to stroke them, take it out to 4.6lt and it'll still look stock, no problems with rego etc. Plenty of power as well. Golen in the US quote 260hp for thier stroker, 190hp is stock.

yes and yes, your steering rod ends will flog out a little quicker, your power steering pump will flog out a little quicker and your uni's will flog out a little quicker. i also have had the problem of the extra weight doing a little damage to the CA brackets.
i don't need no stinking quote for my sig. line!
