New ford ranger
looking at a new 4x4 ute for work. just wondering what anybody knows about the new ford ranger. Mostly 4x4 will only be used for beach work. Just looking at what people think any comments would be greatly appreated (within the topic)
recent mods include removal of all panels and replaced with balloons, a deck chair and a couple of stick mags. wanna RIDE

yeh i dont mind the navaras, they are nice to drive.

im a mechanic at the largest ford dealership in perth and my oppinion on fords is in no way biast, trust me they have designed some shockers (cough, EXPLORER.. cough cough, mondeo, taures just to name a couple. NOTICE THE AMERICAN IMPORT TREND HERE!! ( i own an MK SWB and is the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned).
The ranger as i have noticed in driving and dealing with them is they are fawking awsum ute/4wd, the diesel is really powerfull big step up from the courier 2.8TD. the tray on the wellbody is alot larger than that of the navara (why they made the navara tray so short has got me) & carring capacity is larger. The service requirements on them is fairly good, for instance coolant is recomended to only require replacing every 100,000km's (not every 30,000/45,000 recomended with most other vehicles)
as Modified Toy stated the latest courier has the 4.0l V6 from an exploder and is only available in auto.... these engine are not known for their reliabilty. mainly due to the timing chain issues they have had in the past, but these problems have been fix.... so they say, only time will tell.
im sure you can get the ranger in V6 exploder eng and trans but we arent selling any. the TD with manual is defently the way to go i wouldnt trust the explorer engine or trans in the bush or on sand.... alway makes me largh when an explorer has tried to go off road only to end up at work on a tow truck with a cooked trans (put a smile on the bosses face aswell)

the dual mass flywheels seem to be getting better, ford had problems with the transits with dual mass flywheels separating a causing allsorts of dramas, but the revised dual mass flywheels are going the distance.460cixy wrote:they go like a skalded cat only thing i dont like is the duel mass flywheels but everything is going this way anyway. but the donk is a real ball tearer for its size just keep away from that 4.0 exploder donk
The dual mass flywheels are the probably the bigest driving force for diesels coming back into fashon, these flywheels absorb most of the shock caused by a diesel engine. if it wasent for them diesels would still feel like a truck to drive.
