So what do the teams from Thailand do? Woulda cost a bit to do this..
the same as everyone else, pack up and go home. Would have cost everyone alot of money to set vehicles up and travel. But that is the luck of the draw with weather and comps. Such a pity though for all who have entered, the officials and the spectators

does anyone have any current pics of the conditions in the area, just so we can see what they have had to deal with

I just spoke with Al Moysey and Jus (car 20 i think) he also confirmed that it is ALL off and they (Group D) are the only lucky group to make it back to Broken Hill to sign off, the rest of the teams are unable to move.

he is going to call back once they have had a chat with HQ so hopefully i can send some more clarity.

what a bummer.

All over
Havent had rain like that in thirteen years apprently.
Spoke to Rohan and Wayne (reigning champions). theres a presentation tonight but a lot of speculation about what exactly they will be presenting.
They never went back into BH by the way, dont know where that story came from but the 15 or so competitors and marshalls holding the lights so they could fix the car should be able to confirm .

Organisers got special consideration for everyone to head back to BH but apparently they are destroying the roads.

Temp of engine got to 150C
Still running OK too.

HAS SOMEONE TOLD THE FISH?????
What, haven't you ever done lines of International Roast off a hookers back with $100 notes?

Have had it confirmed also. Event over, no placings likley to be given. Organisers got dispensation from RTA to use the roads to allow spectators / competitors / marshalls etc to evacuate from competition sites. Main reason is that conditions are unlikely to improve for a while and spectators atleast wouldn't have had sufficient food / water.

Hope Paul and Sharon are putting a few $K on the bar tonight.

Thanks guys  I'm in BH and waiting to go to the presentation, if that's what is going to be called

Bloody shame it rained enough to close the roads as the competitors were loving the wet conditions on all the stages :D

As for swimming I thought I was going to do some swimming at 8am this morning  Bloody hell is there some water around the place

Hoping to still be able to get out of Broken Hill to the south tomorrow :)

Cheers, ;)

Having only competed for 2-3 days out of the maximum 8 day event..Surely there has to be some sort of pro rata refund for the competitors even if they received discounted rates for next years event.
One has to remember that it is the competitors that make the event and without them no-one would even be out there.
I'm sure the boys over at the 4WD MONTHLY CLIFFHANGER (and I cannot speak on their behalf) would have given refunds, but then again, they wouldnt need to as the road closures wouldnt have affected them being on the one 110,000 acre property.
Anyway, what a disappointing end to such an awesome event. Just when Hummer and Coops sounded like they had a real chance too.

its all over again,,but earlier than we wanted..skidy & i were
at H-Q lockdown for nearly 3days,not allowed to compete,
not allowed to spectate, not allowed to go anywhere,,we have only
completed 3 stages, due to bad weather & 1 badly timed crash,,
although we were fixed & ready to race by monday night, but
buracratic desisions kept us from H-Q, & then the heavens opened,
roads cloased ect.. there were opitunities to go to stages we had not
competed, but we were not allowed ,as they were our group.....
BIG F******* DEAL if you ask me ,, as we had not been with our
group all week,& the day we were meant to,H-Q gave us 2006
trek notes by mistake. talk about leading you up the garden path..
SO TRY & EXPLAIN THAT TO YOUR SPONSORS

SO OUR O-B-C EXPERIENCE WORKED OUT TO BE $1000 A STAGE
if they wanted to be fair they would create 3stages for friday & 3stages
for saturday (&there are pleanty of close spots to do it-IE stevens creek)
forget about the other stages everyone else could not complete. Then they would have a true winner of the Outback Challenge!
Anyway I am half way through drowning my sorrows in Wild turkey. This has been my most disapointing Outback experience.
