Rover Supra Bellhousing kit $795 each ($745 each for 5), from Triumph Rover Spares.

I'm still pricing up the Dellow Automotive adaptor but they won't do a bulk discount.

So where is this $400 adaptor? And Ruff, how much would the custom one cost roughly?

Also Leyland 4.4 engine No is stamped on block near bellhousing, behind LH cylinder head. Rover engine No is on LH side of block - look between middle branches of exhaust manifold.

Rover 4.6 has same head bolt pattern as Leyland 4.4, but casting is different (no possibility to drill and tap for extra bolts as can be done on 4.4). I understand the extra bolts were deleted on 4.6 to overcome head gasket problem.

BTW, the Leyland 4.4 was the basis for the F1 world champion, Repco Brabam 3 litre motor, built by Phil Erving.

As you know Rob there was no more 4.4s there.
But i bougth the only 4.4 with a complete hilux conversion and an LPG conversion for $750 with 3 months warrenty

And thanks to the guys here i knew what to look for and you were all right the missing headstuds werent there, the engine number was on the back and it has a carbed manifold and tin tappit covers. But once you look at both side by side the biggest difference is noticed. The V is at the same angle but the block is about 1inch taller.

One question to the rover guys though. Why do people fit 3.5 cylinder heads to the 4.4 is it to improve performance or are the 4.4 heads just hard to replace?

3.5 heads to 4.4. higher compession ratio and they tend not to overhead and something to do with torque produced at lower rpm. Ralph knows the reasons why. I think sam has his number in tassie.

i am not a expert on this but the rover heads breath better then the 4.4 and run a rocker shaft , to fit these properly you have to drill a oil gallery in the rear of the block to feel oil up to the rocker shafts . You will have to shave some out of the head as the comp will be to high .
