Extended shackles on Ebay

Post by cjdeane10 »

To the brains trust out there:
there are some 2 inch extended shackles appeared on EBAY.

I have sifted thru the bible (1st port of call) and this was very helpful, however just a couple of questions:

Does anyone know if using these is illegal in WA?
What sort of 'actual lift' would these provide?
Why would you need a shackle extension?

Would this be too high (for a zuk with 2inch BL and 2inch Spring lift)?

Any info would be great (before i go ahead spending my money!)

. yep illegal till u get caught. i was running them for 2 years on old zook. btw the lift u are running is already illegal anyway. 50mm max lift.
. about 1" lift or so. as evey 1" extended made 1/2" lift.
. more lift, articlation can improve
. yes i would think so, what tyres are u running or trying to run

Don't waste your money , you only are going to get half the lift , so 1 inch , and your approach angle will be worse , also your bushes will flog out quicker giving you sideways movement in the springs which gives you steering play , Don't know if they are legal in W.A. ,Cheers Paul.

1. Technically, extended shackles are illegal aust. wide.
2. 2" extended shackles will only provide 1" of actual lift.
3. Apparently they may allow for more flex, and the lift gained aids in fitting larger tyres. i personally havent used them so i cant actually comment on their effect.

i dont reckon it would be "too" high with 2" BL and 2" springs, as long as you went wider as well i.e wider tyres and greater offset rims.

thanks guys!
i think i will let the extended shackles slide!

Currently running 30's, heaps of room already - from what you have told me, the extended shackles are Not worth the effort

not sure what offset - what size/offset do you reccomend for the current setup? (probably been asked a million times before).

Was gunna run bigger - but then it mucks up your speedo, and it is my DD with a bit of weekend fun!

30's u can get away with no lift - 2" lift only. u should have room for 31-small 32s under there.

if u want a balance of tyre and breakages go for 31's on 7s with f100 offset.

all tyre increase's is going to muck with speedo. even the 30's u got now.

If u wheel where or like i do (pines, beach, tracks, harvey) then thats all u should need.

u NOR or where in WA.

Thanks for the info - yeah i should upgrade my profile!

My family has always had farms with a fair amount of bush playpens (for 4wd) in Harvey, Pinjarra, even Wallal downs (80 mile beach).
Last year did some red dirt - Kalgoorlie power lines, and jurien (fishing) and try to get on the beach as much as i can.
I dont get out 4wding as much as i would like, but the zuk IS fun!

Not new to 4wd, just new to zuk's... had a 82 hilux ute, 78 SWB Landrover, but this is my first zuk.

keep up the good work guys- this is a very active forum, with alot of knowledge out there.

Will keep the lift i have, leave EBAY shackles alone, and may look at some bigger tyres (with bigger offset)!
Cheers
