***LOGAN DISTRICTS EXTREME NOV NIGHT RUN***

Now I'm curious as to what place the black tj came in? Given that this is a competition also (much the same as the Extreme night run is), I'm curious as to how the black tj will go on the night run.
just on this, how can a daihatsu with bundera running gear be considered 'production'.....also, there was a fj45 ute with a coil rear end, hardly production

Black TJ, if you have been on a Logan Night run (I'm not sure sure if you have or not) you would understand the way they work. If you have a vehicle that get's stuck on an obstacle, that recovery will slow the progress of the other entrants. These other entrants have put a lot of time in preparation, fuel, travel time, entry fees and spare parts for a run that is advertised as Extreme, with a set minimum of equipment to start. The Logan Club put on a standard night run every month (that's eleven a year). The Logan Club also run the very successful Logan Challenge (it was on just last weekend), as well as other gymkhanas, traction action etc. The Logan Club have a responsibility to the members, entrants and landowners to put on a professional, organised, and most importantly, SAFE event for all participants. Insurance is the responsibility of the Club, they are responsible for every entrant that pays their money to compete. There are also countless club volunteers that have to sit in the one spot and man a checkpoint all night, quite often these people also help with recovery efforts, using their own equipment and putting wear and tear on their gear. Now a lot of liasing also happens with landowners to have access to some properties so that these events can take place. Now you come along and bag the Logan Club for deciding to make one night run in the year rated as Extreme, and exclude you because you don't have a locker? They take responsibility for every car that enters, and if one vehicle holds up the qeue, the people following that vehicle are quick to anger, especially if that vehicle is allowed to start below the criteria; if a vehicle needs recovery by the checkpoint people, you can guarantee they won't be happy using their own equipment.
So you see there is a lot more to it than just holding a night run. Perhaps the course may be able to be driven in a vehicle without lockers, but The Logan Club have set rules that all entrants must abide by. You don't have to always agree to them, but like anything in this world, if you don't play by the rules you don't play.

Thank you to all that are supporting our club by going on our night runs. As Troy has said, a lot of time and effort go into putting on a night run and for safety and insurance reasons. Chris & Glynn has done the correct thing by the Logan Districts 4x4 Club. I am sure that our many other club members will back him all the way in regard to his and Glynns decision on which way they want their night run to be. The Logan club has been putting on night runs for over 20 years and they are usually very well supported by the club members and the general public. I have personally put on night runs for our club and know how much work is involved and how much things have to be taken into consideration but as the flyer says "EXTREME", then this is what this night run will be.... Any one who has been on a Logan extreme night run will be aware of what this sort of run means - if your not to sure ask someone who has been on a extreme run. Then make your judgement!! Troy - Good point on the checkpoint people, anyone who has manned a C.P on an extreme run will happily tell you the stories about "Joe Average" who showed up and wasn't equiped to do the run. Well it just gets ugly!!!!
To those that are doing it - play safe and have fun

THANK YOU TROY!!!!!!!!
Guys, it's simple. If you don't have a locker, you DO NOT go on this run. The last time we allowed unlocked vehicles on an extreme night run, I was marshelling the last checkpoint. As a result of these "wankers" that turned up in V8 shorty Cruisers that they use for doing doughnuts at Straddy, and think they are "extreme" wheelers, I left the last checkpoint at 9:45am the following day!! Then to top it off, I was pulled over by the coppers and gone over for roadworthy. I can tell you first hand, how friggin frustrating it can be. If I had got a hold of one of those pr*cks, I would have bloody killed them!
If the organiser says "lockers only", then that's what it is. Quit the whinging and bitching. That's the rules, don't like it stiff sh*t. That's the way it is.

I realise how extreme it is.... One of the guys that helped build my truck helped recky it... and funly enough did it in an unlocked vehicle.Even a Stocker with a locker is better than something with 8 foot of suspension drop and 32 spotlights and of course a winch!!!
What a joke of a comment??? mate open ur eyes... a well set up truck with out lockers will out perform a POS with lockers.... If ur wheels dont leave the ground u dont need a locker.... Haven't really needed one yet... and besides a good limo works just as well.....Oh and by the way, what a STUPID idea. Who would be the first person to cry when they bust shiat and no one will recover them at 2 am in the morning.
Wake up!!!!
Mate u will get babies where ever you go.... U think that juat cause a guy has a locker he isn't going to jump up and down when he breaks something???? Get real!!!!! Ur going to have cry babies where ever u go locked and unlocked..... I say the stupid idea is from u
I stil say Logan Club... Big thumbs Down.
Well said!!!!!
You have now progressed to the EXTREME WANKER class!!!!!
Heres how we can do this, you have no lockers and i have one locker and we'll see what the difference will be, you name a track and we can both drive it, then i will name a track and we can both drive it!!!!
What a crack up!!!
Dude in all honesty i have a pretty good idea how HARDCORE you are, but i suppose i wouldn't understand, after all "its a jeep thing"!!!
P.S Sorry to the Logan club for hijacking the thread.
1. POS you would have no idea how "Hardcore" I am or aren't but i would be happy to show u up any day of the week... and yes it is a jeep thing and no u wouldn't understand. Having owned patrols and Suzukis and driven locked luxs and other rust buckets I will take my jeep any day of the week. Also I play regulary with mates with cruisers (locked) and other jeeps (locked) and will put mine anywhere they go normally with the same ease they do it.
2. I agree with the fact there should be restrictions on the Extreme runs - However i think people are missing the point. Joe average is still likely to come along. What... do u think that just because he has a locker he can drive? By making it locked only u eliminate alot of very capable vehicles.... I was in 2 minds and almost went and bought a locker just to run in the extreme run... but fuck that... why buy something that I will use once and never again?? And yes i have been on a few logan Night runs..... This is why i want to come on the extreme one... the average run shits me as joe average is there holding up the que, the check points aren't overly challenging.
3. Yes took out 2nd at Short Course and yes was beaten by Patty and Rachel.... Shame we all can't get 2 goes at a stage...... Its also good to see that the rules for next season have changed... so Production will be Production...... Not heavily modified but just there cause they dont want to have to play with the big boys.....
And a question.... Antt has a locker in his vitara... So can he go along? even though the jeep will go 10 times further any day of the week? (sorry antt just had to use it as an example mate)
I still Say big thumbs down.
Also Area 54 u talk about how logan club had special permisson to be in restricted areas on these runs..... I know of quite a few places that they have run event where they are not allowed to be as well as several complants that have been made to the association regurding the use of restricted areas without permission.... I was even on one "unofficial" run where they had twenty odd vehicles in a area that had signage up reguarding access.... I woud love to see how well their insurance holds up under these conditions.
Also another point logan club charges a fee to go on these runs under the 3rd party insurance provided by the association as soon as they charge people an entry fee the insurance is void.

Geezus mate, if your hanging for an extreme run, wait two bloody weeks and go on the outerlimits weekend. There is going to be a heap of "extreme" driving going along.
Having been on the last 6 or so logan night runs, as soon as I saw extreme I knew I'd never be going on this run.
Honestly mate, the logan district 4x4 club night runs have been so enjoyable for myself and my friends, I hate to see stuff like this go down.
Look...if someone was running a 4x4 comp and wouldn't let you enter because you didn't make the saftey requirements, would you still be bitching?
Don't look at this from a point of "capability". It's from a SAFETY point of view they are making these decisions....
A locked vehicle is inherantly more safer than an unlocked one due to the ability to keep traction in ALL situations. I don't care how much flex you have, if you start to roll and are unlocked you won't be able to boost it at the last minute etc...
Sorry dude, but to me you look like your just whinging. There are 11 other night runs in the year, there is the outerlimits run coming up, there are many 4wd competitions a year up here in QLD, surely missing 1 event isn't going to hurt and will allow other people to have a much more enjoyable evening?

Ok guys this thread has gone on long enough - if you have any issues with the way our club has decided to put on a night run, wouldn't the decent thing to do would be to take it up with the Logan Club?? Bagging our club for putting on a night run that your vehicle is not equiped to do (by the organisers requirments) is just to bad so sad for you. We would have to be one of the most active 4x4 clubs around and as every one has pointed out to you time and time again - stop whinging about it and put on a run and lets us all come out and play. This just annoys me as I feel that you could of made your issues known to the club in a more decent manner. (By email, PM or by phone) As for the person that has filled you in on what is going on, then this person should stand up and be accountable for what they are saying - I would be very happy to listen to anyone if there is a serious cause for concern but in this case, I feel that you have been misinformed. Extreme means EXTREME.....
By the way I am putting on the Logan December night run and you won't need lockers!!!

The club has been made aware of alot of issues previously in a direct manner, both by letter and direct approach through our club and the association and each time Logan club Ignores this.
This thread was not aimed to have a go at logan club in general and now that it has seemed to go down that path the point has been lost. Logan is an acctive club and they do put on some good events.
The point was made about lockers being a safety issue.... IMHO 9 times out of 10 they make a vehicle more dangerous via the driver who thinks thay can go further.
And i definatly know that Logan Club means Extreme when they say extreme... Have been on a run as a passenger before.
I am always up for a a 4bie extreme or not at night... most often ppl aren't interested.

It seems that this thread has gone off topic somewhat. Black Tj you have said your piece, if you have any furthur problems you should take it up via the appropriate channels, this is not a complaints forum.
The Logan 4x4 Club is very active in running 'open' type events ie where you do not have to be a financial club member to participate in events. I say a big 'THATS TOPS' to the Logan 4x4 Club for running so many successful events throughout the years, I'm sure many on this forum and people across Brisbane, all thank you for your efforts - keep up the TOP work guys!

Black TJ, whether you and your car are capable of donig this run or not, is totally irrelevant. There is no difference between the organisers of a night run stipulating vehicle requirements to the organiser of a winch challenge doing likewise. If your vehicle does not meet those requirements, you can not compete. I don't understand what you're not getting here? Any event organiser is well within his/her rights to put any requirements he/she sees fit on their event. Who are you to tell them what they can or can't do? If you want to put on an extreme night run open to unlocked vehicles, no one is stopping you. But, don't bag our club for being one of a very few that actually put on night runs. We put them on so that people like yourself can go along, have some fun, and hopefully win a few trophies along the way. So, unless you want to stick your hand up and organise one yourself, put up or shut up.
As far as our club being in retsricted areas. When? Where? I'd like to hear this. You were pretty quick to say we had been, but you weren't real keen to put locations and dates on it. I'd really like to see if you have your facts straight here. If you are referring to the complaint made by another club that we had taken 60 cars into Spring Mountain on a night run, that is true. But, this happened about 6 months before the area was closed for recreational use. If people want to make complaints 3 years after something took place, it probably wouldn't hurt to check actually when the area was closed.
As Nat34 said, if you have a problem with the rules and regs of our runs, have the balls to actually contact the club itself and querie it. Not sit behind a computer and have a whinge to people that can't do anything about it anyway.

black-tj,
you should have just turned up and told them you had a detroit and then you could have done the run .
Looks like you have stuffed that idea up now though.
I do agree with your arguement about non locked capable trucks being as good as some locked vehicles but the fact is they have said NO LOCKERS--NO GO and no one has any right to dispute that.
I always enjoy the runs the logan club puts on, [extreme or not] and along with many other non logan club members, thinks it bloody brilliant that they allow non members in.
I would hate to see them change to members only because of complaints by non members so perhaps its time to drop it !!
shane.....not going because of the ASCC at mud bulls.

First of all I dont have a Problem with Logan club persay- they are active they do put on relativly good events for all - my problem has been with the night run. Thats where i say thumbs down other then that thumbs up....
Marshy as for the areas the club has been illegally I sent u a PM regaurding that. There are plenty more too.... As I said in the PM I understand that any run is do so at own risk and personally dont have a problem with it. Just have be carefull giving the perception that everything is legal that the club does.

Black_TJ you are begining to sound like a bit of an arse.
Heres my view on the deal on the locker requirement - if they let in everybody that wanted to run the extreme night run then they would get way to many rigs that arnt capable enough and it would totally stuff up a good nights wheeling.
Now most rigs that dont have lockers arnt very capable and most rigs that have them are capable enough. Its that simple and it has nothing to do with how capable you believe your rig to be without any lockers. Making it a requirement to have lockers to enter this night run is just a way of getting rid of 90% of rigs that not capable enough. Now if this also maens that you also exclude 0.01% of the rigs that have no lockers and are capable enough then so be it. If you want to enter this night run then get yourself some lockers.
And if you believe that offroading is only a matter of keeping all your wheels on the ground then you have got a lot to learn about "hardcore" wheeling. Untill you understand why lockers are perhaps the most important mod you can do to your rig you are not even close to being "hardcore".
And coming onto a public forum and claiming that a prominant 4wd club is conducting its activities illegally is perhaps the dumbest thing that you could do. Even if you believe your opinion to be totally true a public forum is not the place to be making these claims!! Whats wrong with you!!! It seems to me that you enjoy sport 4wding and here you are trying to sling shiat on a club thats doing everything it can to promote the sport. What, do you think that you are being that hard done by that you need to bring this club down so that nobody else can enjoy themselves on the club events?? Have a think about what you are saying!
And for the record I believe that the Logan District 4wd club conducts all its events in accordence with the guide lines set out by the Association of 4wd Clubs of Queensland and more importantly it conducts its events within the limits of the Associations TCIS insurance. The stakes are way to high to be playing outside these guidlines. The stuff that Black_TJ is talking about happen over 3 years ago and it was brought to the attention of the association and it was found that nothing illegal had happened.

I appologise in regaurd to the mud slinging to do with the Logan Club as I said that was not my intention. My original issue was with this particular night run, the fact that it has side tracked has made the point blurred and it is partly my fault that the point i was trying to make has been lost.... So i just say let bygones be bygones...
