What should I do?

Post by Gee »

Well it's time for another repair. My gearbox needs a rebuild as 5th gear is now very noisey. I've now got two thoughts going through my head:

1) Get everything rebuilt gearbox/transfer and put in a heavy duty clutch and keep the triton for a lot longer

2) cut my losses and get just the gearbox sorted and sell the triton for something else

My only concern is that in the three years I have owned it, no expense has been spared on new parts and upgrades. The triton has everything I need in a 4b (apart from speed but I have learned to live with that) but it seems as though I am constantly paying for repairs to a vehicle that doesn't have a hard life.

If a was to sell I wouldn't be buying a newer vehicle, just something that is considered more "robust" ie GQ, 80 series or troopy. But by doing this am I just buying another huge parts/repair bill?

Opinions/ thoughts please.

I just fitted a Pajero box and T/Case to my 94 L200. It came from the last of the Gen 1s with the coil rear springs and is a cast iron box. The driveshfts fitted straight up. The T/case lever seemed different so used the paj 1 and the paj slave cyl.
These are a tough box, a mate runs a 350 chev through one, although the
syncros wear. I only paid $350 for it.
