Factory gauges and electrics

Post by killer_garden_gnome »

can anyone tell me why my gauges just died about 3 days ago, i still had a fuel guage until 10 mins ago but its gone now too, the battery light is showing on the dash but the alternator is charging and the battery is fine. none of the fuses have blown and i lost my horn and dash lights prior to this, my tail lights also blow the fuse when the head lights are turned on but i had gauges after the tailights went for about 2 weeks. so other than headlights brake lights and indicators im blind. if anyone has any ideas id be grateful.

Its a bit difficult to follow from your description, but..... Are you certain the Alternator is charging by checking its output with a multi-meter while a load like the heater blower motor or rear window demist. From memory, the feed that supplies +12V to the gauges also supplies power to the Speedo and Tacho and the Voltage to excite (charge) the Alternator.--are these working? Check fusible links are ok, and double check fuses.
