HJ60 landcruiser.
Climbed under it yesterday to adjust the clutch...was told I could adjust it slightly at the slave cylinder (hoping thats correct terminology).
Unsure of which way to adjust, I tried both ways and found the winner (or so I thought). The clutch was heaps better than what it was. Took it for a short drive and was happy with it.
Drove in the driveway and noticed the spring was still on the ground, so I refitted the spring and that was that.
Jumped in this morning, and I had no clutch. It was engaging 10mm from the floor (felt like no fluid - or no clutch). Took the spring off and the clutch works great again.
obvioulsy the spring has to be there, so I am thinking maybe I adjusted it the wrong way. Which way should I adjust it?
The easiest way to say it is when I adjusted it, I made the threaded part shorter. I would say by about 5mm.
How important is the spring, and what exactly does it do?
