info on 80 series

Post by fat071 »

Hi all Just looking into buying an 80 series diesel and scrapping me 60 series but a few things bother me.
1) Will the 15x10 convo pro's fit that fit a 60 series.
2) whats the diff about the engine is it better on fuel or worse than a 2H diesel.
3) will the snorkel fit or not.
4) will the bullbar and side steps fit or not.
5) How many klm will the motor do before any work need doing. atm 2h is still going strong at 420+ thousand.
All these extras I'v got now and the 80 series I'm looking at hasn't got.

Thanks in advance,
Mick

G'day big Mick you still got that 60. i see you around abit, in caes you dont remember me you worked at Handyform driven the truck. I worked with chubbs. Good luck getting an 80 as strong as your 60 why get someone elses problems. unless shes been eatin by rust spend the money on the old girl. If you want to go for a local play let me know. I've organised 2 runs so far,so keep an eye out on trips and tracks Good luck in your hunt. Cheers little Mick

i got an 80 with a 1hz and after market turbo . 650 klm to 90L tank drivin like a bitch and replacing the crankshaft now at 440k on it other than that i am told the 1hz gets about 500k on the clock before a new one is needed. the crankshaft is the only prob ive had since 290k so i am happy with it i guess . i would buy another one any day

Thanks fellas the one Im looking at is a 94 and the reason that Im going to an 80 is that the 60 is eatin out with rust and I want something a little more comfortable that doesn't bounce across the road and is just a pig to drive.

So if its a 94 the wheels fit thats all I really care about.

i think it's pre 93 cos my cruiser had 15/7'i rims the standard chromies. and the newer ones came standard with 16i rims.
