so that the top hose comes in at the top, centre of the rad, above the water pump pulley you can see in the photo. So the old top hose fitting would need to be blanked off, and a bit of pipe run across the top of the radiator to extend from the right-side tank and have an inlet there.
What do you reckon? Is this hard? Is there some reason why it's a stupid idea?
The purpose is simply to tidy up that area so I can relocate the alternator and run an a/c compressor, currently the top hose runs in the area where belts and pulleys want to go.
If ya gonna try it yourself, buy an old cheap radiator (any type, the cheapest one around); and just practise and see how it goes. If you stuff it up, too bad, if you succeed then you know what to do next.

Its not really possible, AFAIK, as thats a cross flow radiator, and you would be trying to get an outlet into one of the core tubes. It would not be of sufficant size or strength to handle an outlet. If you really want an outlet there, try an older type vertical radiator, with tanks top and bottom.

I think he means run a pipe from the R/H tank, along the top of the core to the middle of the radiator. If so, I think it is definitely doable.

Yep, fair enough, only just woken up, so wasnt reading it correctly. Definately doable, as you could brace it off the top strap in the centre. It wouldnt even have to be a curved exit out of the tank, as standard, the Daihatsu Rocky diesel radiator bottom outlet is a right angle exit, pointing toward the centre of the radiator.
If you do run a pipe across the top , place one of those radiator hose filters in the highest piont , as you can take the top off when filling and remove all the air .
Most inlet/outlets are soldered in, so a big soldering iron will remove them easily.
Brass welsh plugs make excelent blanks for filling in holes that a inlet/outlet has left afer a relocation..... just solder them in !!
Ya local plumber shop has a fantastic range of copper pipe and copper fitings in all sizes.... yep, even in the radiator hose sizes
All of the fittings come with a flared end so its as simply as fit together and solder em up.
I've converted heaps of radiators and had some very weird inlets & outlet locations because of other determining factors within the enginebay, nothing is imposiable.......
