Feroza Questions?

Feroza Questions?
Hey guys. Have my eyes on a 1993 Feroza F300CX at the moment (no air con). and just had a couple of questions. Price is $4980.
The car has just hit the 200,000km mark, so do you believe the price is too high or on the mark? Any problems with one of this high a mileage?, should I keep looking for something a with a little less on the clock?
If I chose to put aircon into it, what sort of cost would I be looking at? Any other problems in general to look out for?
Thanks for the advice guys

How much do you want to spend?
Mine is for sale with 334,000 on it, but well looked after with re-built gearbox and head. '89 DX chasing $3500 with the tyres (30 x 9.5 BFG muddies)
What to look for depends on what ya want and how much you have to spend. $5000 is reasonable, but you can expect to have head problems by about 250,000 k's i.e. valve seat become hard, so have to replace them, and at the same time replace teh vavles (learnt that the hard way).

200000km would be about average for a '93 model. Has it got a service history? That's probably more important than the number of km it's travelled. Expect it to use a bit of oil and budget for a timing belt change too if there's no record of it being done recently.
Have a look here for a value guide (from what I've seen the values in Redbook are undervalued compared to prices here in SA) http://www.redbook.com.au/Vehiclesearch ... 93CZ&veh=y
Have a look at the IFS thread for common faults to look out for.

I agree with Croz, spend 8 - 10,000 if you want air, and get something with about 150 - 180,000 k's on it. Don't rush into it, they are out there.
Somewhere I am still looking But I would prefer to take my time rather than fork out thousands later!

Did the Feroza come with power windows in 92? Which models? Or was it only in the widetrack model?
Was trying to figure out what model this might be?
DAIHATSU FEROZA 1992 Maroon/silver, 12 months rego, power windows, sunroof, soft/hard top, mags, bull-bar, towbar, very good condition, $6000 or near offer.
Have I asked enough questions as yet?
Thanks guys

The ELIII's are really nice inside. I was looking at a narrow track DX as well and you'd think it was a totally different vehicle inside!
Mine was $8900 from a dealer in January this year: 160000km, air, driving lights, Rola racks, tow bar, excellent condition inside and out. Some people have thought it's a near new vehicle when they've seen it.

...and don't go the Vitara....I've got one of those as well as the Feroza, but the Zook is a much softer vehicle.....a Feroza will hold its' condition MUCH better than the Zook. More solid construction, better looking, GALVANISED body (=no rust), easier to turn into a "beast", etc., etc.
On the other hand, the zook will get you where you want to go a bit faster, is generally cheaper to mod, and you can get things like difflocks and rockhopper TX case.
I got my lift kit for the Zook for around $400 with rear shocks, but I would still rather drive the Feroza in the rough stuff. The Zook (4door wagon) was bought as a "family" car, the extra room is really appreciated when camping and fishing, but I find the Feroza climbs big obstacles MUCH more easily, even with the same size tyres (30 x 9.5" BFG muddies).

Heath28 wrote:Honestly, get a wide track - You will regret getting a narrow track in the future, once you start modding and driving a bit harder. I know I have!
Depends how much you want to spend though too. I know when I was looking a wide track would have been at least another $3000.
The wider rims and tyres I have just bought have really made a huge difference to the handling of mine. I haven't had a chance to take it offroad yet but I imagine it will be a lot better.

I called the guy about 10 mins ago and he ended up trading it in for $5,500 due to lack of interest. Said he would have sold it for $6,000.
He also had a DETROIT LOCKER from Lockrite who were experimenting with them on Ferozas which he dumped as in 3 months he went through 2 diffs and ended up getting the LSD.
I would have bought it for $6,000 for sure.
