NiteRider HID/LED Helmet Mounted Light...Arrived!!

Post by The_Wazza »

Would just like to know if there is any interest from drivers/co-drivers, in a high quality HID light that I'm looking into. Will be getting them from the US.

I always found as a co-driver that there was not much to choose from in regards to getting a good light to wear on our helmets, while running in the dark up hills!

• Single HID bulb with adjustable 40/38/35W output
• 4 to 6 hours of burn time
• 3 LED auxiliary light settings for co-drivers,night time work and emergencies
• Bright 5-LED goggle-mounted tail light for increased safety

• 4.0 Ah NiMH battery with 2.5-hour fast charger
• Battery fuel gauge
• Quick installation, especially important during team racing
• On-the-fly adjust of light-head angle

They are about $400 US, but I should get them much cheaper. It's been used in the BAJA 1000 and is also great for motorbike riding, cycling etc.

It'd be a great investment, considering we do so many night stages in all different comps..

It might take a while to organise(have stock here in Aussie), but I'll get them directly from the US as needed.

how much cheaper is way cheaper.

because good quality lights for cycling specially in the bush are pretty pricey so you would have no issues floging them if you bought in bulk'

but im interested

I'm waiting to here back from the company. Aiming to be a supplier for them. Hopefully all will go well. Buying bulk, is the way to go.
I've seen other brands that were around the $1600 dollar mark, but mainly used for diving.

If I can get these for around $600, I'll be happy and people who are looking for this type of product (like yourself), know they're pricey if you want good lights.

Wazz

I read a recent light test, showed lights from AUD $650, $875, $1,195.
Hrs for longest burntime was claimed 2.30hr - 10 watt, 4.07hr- 12watt, 5.16hr - 16 watt. All offered helmet mount (bicycle).

Can you give me an idea of where your light sits on this rough comparision, total weight and can it fix to a race helmet?

Our 1st shipment of NiteRider lights have arrived.. WOW!!

We've landed the top of the range HID-LED "Cannibal" lighting system and the lower end range of lights, the "Desert Rat" Halogen light.

If you've watched the Dust To Glory movie, these are the lights mounted on the helmets of some of the motor bike riders, Mouse Mc Coy and Steve Hengeveld

Here's a couple of pictures mounted to my skid lid.

This is a mate from the States who supports some of the teams in the Baha races. A fun day out in the desert! Awesome  He's got 4 lights on his one quad.

I may have a diseased mind, but my first thought on seeing these was how easy you'd be for a sniper to target :)

haha.. very easy

Just something very useful for the poor co-drivers to wear on the night stages. Being a co-driver myself, I know what it's like running in the dark.
You can set these up on a stand "if" one must repair the truck.

I'll be at the Ateco this year with the setup.
