its taken me 6 months to finally finish mine
and it would have been cheaper to buy an arb one, so 5 - 800 bucks wouldnt cover it

Spot on. Making a decent bar is a very big job. It is easy in theory but in practice there are lots of variables and they often end up looking rough or unfinished.
Polar_Bear - your;s looks great but I can imagine how much work was in it.
I have made a few bars for people where ARB's product wasn't appropriate, but if you can buy an ARB bar for your application, just save up and buy one, they are the best product available worldwide.

I woudl be surprised if any commercial fabricator would make anything for less than you could buy an ARB bar for.
The ARB bar is superior to the calmini bar.

Hopefully they will make it a bit better than the Calmini one, maybe more like the quality of an ARB one. Basically if you can't fab and you want quality then spend the dollars and get an ARB bar. They are strong and well made. I was impressed with mine. Even in the US the aftermarket bars are heavier than an ARB to try and get the same sort of strength due to the design of the ARB.Try_Me wrote:can someone make an immitation calmini bar???
also tube bars???

and to add to that cj, the onl reason to NOT run an ARB bar would be if you had an application that you couldn't run one, like trying to run a high mount in a vitara, or a body lift (although they can be modified for this)
from experience, it is possible to modify an ARB bar to meet another requirement and still generally have a better outcome than if you'd started from scratch.

Very nice job there but I still think it looks jjust like the ARB one

Also remember the ARB one has been made so that it is legal in any state meets all safety rules and is insurable, whilst a one off custom one isn't necessarily any of those things.
As Steve and CJ have said the ARB one is the one to get

Steve.

Try_Me, I sold my ARB bar after deciding that for the effort to put it on (properly) a widetrack Vit with a highmount that a custom bar was a better option but it won't be a 5 minute job to make.... will it Steve

Hey Nick
My Vit came with a nice aluminium bar from BOCAR. Can't put a winch on it. Works a treat after a young guy up the other end of the street lost his car on a corner and ploughed sideways into the front of my car. No damage to the bar or my rig and the insurance company replaced the rubber overriders on the bar and polished it uplike new for me. you can have it for $800 or so and I'll buy the ARB!. It should just bolt on. TJM also sell an aluminium bar but it is similar in price to the ARB one.
