Building another one!

Post by M&M Custom Engineerin »

Matt got sick of fixing broken zook cv's so he cut it up.

He is going to run 39.5 boggers.

80 series front diff with a low pinion 5.29 centre. IFS hilux rear diff.

It is supposed to be going for Nissan Trials

not much to show.
Matt welded the chassis extension on last night.
Cut some spring perches for the front diff.
Re drilled the centre bolt for the front spring packs

I just welded up the passenger side sill panel on mine, i still have to grind it all back and slap some paint on it.

got a question for you about the sills on the zook right. it's all hollow inside so how important is it to the tub's structure.

firstly i wanna cut back the rear corners of the front arches. do i need to cover up that hole or can i leave it open?i know love_mud has his open all the way through. just wondering how important it is to weld it closed.

secondly, you've clearanced it totally, and put a slider of sorts on there. can you explain how you did it. cos you pics are crap and you need to learn to use your camera. so maybe detailed words would be better. cheers.

If you are running a low pinion in the 80 front housing how are you running the steering now?

we will make up a hi steer arm for the draglink and run the tie rod off the bottom but facing forwards instead of backwards. Too easy ;)

How long is the extension on the front of the chassis Mick?

Looks like you'll have a heap of extra space in there for winch / motor / extra seating ;)

i think it is about 200mm longer.

Just trying to keep the rear of the spring from being in the lowest point of the chassis.

The extra wheelbase wont hurt

hilux fronts and the same springs we have been running in the rear of both of ours.

I run zook rears in the front of mine with the centre bolt re-drilled 4 inches forward

Neat work on the chassis extension. What is the minimum extension required to run rears up front?
