turn you computer off, take the F#%%^$% swaybar off and go for a drive if you like it leave it off if you dont put it back on.
Before the internet we sometimes found things out for ourselves via trial and error.

If the reccomendation is for everyone to take their swaybars off, trial them out, and attach/leave swaybar off on their own need - then that is what we will do.

Really, I don't think you caould have asked for more, or a better range of responses, from all over australia, in under three days. How many more people do you need to tell you the same thing?
Maybe for you next question you should ask which is better, SPOA or SPUA if you really want to see some excitement

Generally, unless something is blatantly unsafe, (and clearly contributed to the accident) the insurance company won't knock the claim. An obstinate insurance company that doesn't pay will get a poor reputation quickly - it doesn't make sense.
Case in point - I had a "knock for knock" crash in the early 1990's in a new hilux. The car had 15X7 rims, (16X5.5 on placard) 31X10.5 Mud Terrains (205 R16 on placard) tinted windows, sports steering wheel, bullbar.... none of which was on the policy.
One tyre was replaced with a new one, the bullbar was replaced and nothing more was said.
I know it's not the ethically correct thing to say, and if the car was involved in s single vehicle rollover accident, you might be on shaky ground, but as an example, suzukiboy, you might accidentally drive on road with non speed rated tyres on your car........
Most of our cars are illegal/uninsurable in one way or another.

Thanks Steve, yeah that makes sense that they'd require it. I was thinking of just removing it when i went off road. I'd hate to run into a Merc and then have a massive debt cause the insurance company wouldn't pay up.

I gota ring up the insurance company some time and tell them all the mods it has now! All they know is the bull bar and winch! Would be alright in a roll over cause i could take the parts off but if it got stollen i would be behind the 8 ball!

You're on your P's - insurance companies hate young guys and modified cars.
Try ringing them and "asking" - some stuff just adds value like a stereo, and they might be OK with that, but if you pump up the value of the car too much you will need an inspection and then you might be in trouble- too many mods and you will be knocked.
"Agreed value" is a funny thing - you can't have an agreed value for a $2000 car of $10000 because of the stuff on it. Agreed value normally only applies to a % of the market value - say up to 40% above market. (or something - don't quote me) The problem is if agreed value goes too high they can't write the car off so they get trapped with a wreck nobody will fix and have to pay you out $10k for a car that gets $500 at auction.
Maybe try a 4WD specialist or Shannons, but your best bet is to go 3rd party, go for maximum value (which is 5K) and make sure it's not knocked off. (maybe try a rottweiler on the passenger seat?) That way if you have a prang you always get the car back to pull the stuff off of. Once the value of the stuff on the car is greater than the value of the car, it's the only way to go, otherwise you loose control of the wreck and loose all your accessories.

imo if your under 25 full comp insurance on a sierra isn't worth it. You would have to right off your car every 18 months to get back what your spending in insurance. Just get third party and live with dings. If you do any real damage most of your stuff will swap over and you might be out of pocket $2000 after parting the rest out. but hey thats the premium that the insurance company wanted you to pay anyhow.

I'm 20, I refuse to pay for anything more than extra third party. SO yes I agree with Steve and Muppet Man67. If you are really keen to cover yourself, each time your insurnace renewal comes around bank $X into a seperate bank acount, and don't touch that money unless you need to fix or replace the car.

but i have much better springs now and ditched the struts for seperate spring and coil set up. and without a sway bar it drives very well.
taking my swaybar off was done after i had 2" springs put in... i noticed more bodyroll on road and the rear was more prone to lifting a tyre around a corner (didnt feel unsafe, just spun the wheel). After that i ramped it and was definitely getting more flex.
Its also far easier to throw a non-swaybarred zuk sideways into a corner because the rear lets go easier =)

I've got a Coilly with 40mm suspension lift, 50mm body lift, and 31's. I removed the sway bar after I did the suspension lift. It's not a polite car on the road, off road it's fantastic. I use it as a daily driver for my 64km round trip to work and back, and it's fine.
As for specific handling properties, well my other car is a race prepped Mini, so everything else handles like a double bed to me. Just drive to the conditions. Take it off and see how you go. If it feels too unstable, put it back on. Otherwise just adjust your driving to the car. You are the most tuneable part of your car

ive got my 91 hardtop sierra fully comprehensive insured through Just Cars. Fully worth it i reckon considering only cost me $490/yr for the premium and that covers my car for an agreed value of $6000. not bad considering i bought it for $3000. Oh and i am only 22yr old. Just gotta ring around and find an insurance company that would work for ya.
Yeah I was going to give Just Cars a call. They seemed pretty good. What sort of mods have you got on it? Yeah just car are basicly fine with any mods, don't increase your premium, as long as they are legal and you tell them.

well my sierra handle better without the swaybar, was a smoother car to drive. had stock springs, 30" ATs, diff moved forward 1.5" and 1.5" extended shackles.
got pulled over twice by the cops, guess what, they didn't notice, how cool is that guys!! haha
they also didn't say anything about no mud flaps on the rear, they must like suzuki's
the second cop had a whinge about the non standard bumber bar and that was after I had put the blinkers into the bar and not just cable tied to the top. first cop wasn't worried about cable ties but didn't like the fact I only had one p plate on the rear. how can they see the one at the front at night anyway!, so they didn't book me for that, just the speeding! cops are tops!!!
I think some of the people on here may need to stress less and have some more fun! life is short

His just going to inqure about if he did the mods it has now and see how much it will go up! If its heaps it will have the mods that are listed.........
