thinking of going to the little sandy desert in a couple of weeks and the tracks are as you would imagine very sandy.
should i...
1.) take my 60series with new split rims and tyres(32s)
2.) steal the 31x10.5x15 from my mums hilux
3.) steal my mums hilux.
i imagine the wider tyres will do better on sand but could i just let down the 32s heaps and get good traction???
hilux would be good cause its lighter but its also less powerful (am i right in that the general idea on driving on sand is lighter is better?), mum will probably break a hip trying to get into my 60 while im gone.
Never gone offroad on deep sand before so all opinions will be welcome.

At first I thought it was a sea anemone, upon closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.
The length of the 'footprint' of the tyre is what increases your tracion, like tracks on a dozer.
The wider tyres create a mound of dirt in front of the tyre so you're effectively always trying to go up hill. The 32's on splitties will be fine. 20psi as a start pointif you need to go lower you'll know cos you'll struggle to climb sandy hills, as you pressures go down so should your speed!
The 60 will be fine, it'll love it.
Just get out there and enjoy yourself, don't be afraid to experiment with tyre pressure etc, that's the best way to learn.
