Detomaso Charade engine

Post by rocknferoza »

I was talking 2 a mate of mine last night who is a mechanic. I mentioned 2 him that I'd like 2 get a detomaso half cut and swap the head and computer over onto the feroza block. He said I may not be able 2 swap the heads over because with the detomaso having the ignition timing controled by the computer it would have a crank angle sensor, knock sensors and other things on the block which the feroza block may not have.
Would this be correct and would it be possible 2 swap these bits over or should I just swap the whole engine over :?:

I sent Rolin Imports a fax last week and I got a reply saying that they had Nil stock for the detomaso half cut

James, don't know about the crank angle sensor, but if it's got a knock sensor that'll be easy to fit. They just screw into the block.

The Charade guys regularly build up 1.6l engines to Detomaso spec using bits off the 1.5l Charade (injection is supposed to be the same as Detomaso with timing control), plus the cam, and a normal Applause 1.6 engine.

Could be cheaper to just buy the cam and go aftermarket injection with timing control; plus be easier to tune for later mods?? The heads are supposed to be exactly the same from the questions I asked on Daihard last time you were looking. You can use your standard distributor with after market injection too- you just need to lock the advance mechanism and change the wiring a bit.
