The fitter recomended 40 psi front and back but i reckon thats a bit high? i was thinking more like 36-38?

The dude that fitted my claws had 'em pumped up to farkin' 50psi

They ride so much better around the 26-30 mark.

What is the recommended pressure on your tyre placard? I'd tend to use that as a ballpark figure.

Here is one way to calculate it... kind of mathematically...
MUD EMPIRE wrote:OK here tis.........go for a drive up the h'way for a bit.....If a tyre increases in pressure (from cold) more
than 3-4 psi it could be considered to low to start with. If it doesn't
increase in pressure or increases only 1 psi then it was too high
to start with.
Even using an accurate guage it's still
difficult to find the premium pressure for a given tyre, load,
ambient temp...etc. etc. etc.
Rule of thumb is that your tyres should gain pressure on an extended
trip, but it should only be 2-3-4 psi.....

Pot stirred....Dave ;)
Perhaps start at 36, and take it from there...

Dan.

I got 31" buckshots on my Bronco, yhe guys who fitted them (both the sales guy and the fitter) said 40psi too... so I do, they are wearing evenly though. I used to run 18psi in the sand on super diggers, but the buckshots need to go low, down to 12 or less (in a Bronco!)

i run 35 in my buckshots

and for what its worth id never go back to a tyre shop if they couldnt even put the right pressure in tyres. if they dont know enough about there job to figure that out id hate to have them fitting and balancing my tyres and doing a wheel allignment

Based on that 4 psi rule and your results id be running 36, 37 or 38....
