4" Lift on a 60 Series

Post by bundytunna »

i need to replace the suspension system on me 60 and i wanna get a 4" lift
is this too high?
it is a daily driver for me missus so i dont wanna have to have a ladder to get into it
i wanna have a bit a clearnace for off road but it stil stable on the road
(plus i wanna have it looking real mean too lol)
im running 33's on it
i wanna keep it under the springs under the axle tho
im gonna get some anti inversion shackles
r these worth the extra $$
does any one have any pics of a 60 with a 4" lift
if not does any one roughly know the height from the bottom of the sill to the ground on a 60 with a 4" lift
thanks very much in advance anyways
cheers

4" is pretty TALL BT. After talking to Goannawhere (spell?) in Adelaide it was going to be a expensive exercise -springs, shocks, sway bar extensions, brake line extensions, etc. Very top heavy for a daily driver/tourer (for me anyway). I ended up going with a 2" susp lift and a 2" body lift, which leaves a lot of room for 33's or larger.

Tom,

have a chat to Rod at Total 4wd in epping - he is pretty clued onto how to set 60's up properley. Also cost effective.

See how that goes bro.

Go 2 body and 2 suspension, no one makes a 4" kit and even if they did the set in the springs would be such that they would never flex and you would have wasted your $$$$

If your stock springs are sagged you can get 4" from SOA. Henry Culliban (60 series guy) on Pirate has used his SOA 60 (Princess) as a tourer for nearly a decade. If you do it yourself it is cheaper than the spring lift.

Go a 2inch body lift for about 60 bucks and do it yourself

Then get a 2 inch suspension lift most of them for 60s are about a grand all my mates and myself with 60s have this mod and run 35s easily with little scrubbing. One guy i know runs 35s with just a 2 inch body lift.
With these mods if feels stable at high speeds if you want to use it for touring and that is with the sway bars removed

There was buggerall stuff around with the bodylift. Cut a 6-8" notch out of the lower edge of the radiator shroud, source longer bolts & spacers, jack the body & in they go!!

And trim round the gear levers otherwise it can have a tendency to jump out of 4wd.
