Series 4 flares onto a 98
Series 4 flares onto a 98
is it possible to fit the flares off the latest model patrols onto the early 98 models? I have a DX that came without flares and in the quest to keep it my wife doesn't like the battered look of it. So I need to clean it up a bit and was thinking I like the squared look of the later flares. Also where would you source them from?

have absolutely no idea dude, so im not even gunna pretend i do, but i remember when i was filling in a very bored day i had off work there a few months back and decided to go take a brand spanker patrol for a test drive, i asked the salesman what they actually did to the body when they updated it, and he said "nothing" just taillights, headlights and flares, so my uneducated guesstimate would suggest that they may very well bolt straight up...... but yeah.. dont hold me on that, hope it helps tho

a stock GU1 dx would look terrible with GU4 flares on it. think about it

if u were going to do it then get a set of flares from a GU1 at least.
or get rid of it and buy a ST or TI if u want it to look decent

I think they would be a pretty rough fit, having both models in the family, there is a few differences. I also think it would be an expensive experience trying to track down a complete, good condition set.
But I like your thinking, personally I think it would be sweet.

if they fitted properly it would look fine. I'm trying to find out if they will fir properly or not. I'm getting conflicting info that the panels are the same and others saying they aren'tj-top paj wrote:![]()

find a series 4 in a car park somewhere, park besides it and compare. I'd suggest looking up and under the gaurd to check if the GUIV panel are still rounded arches under the trim or a more boxey looking
GU 4.2 TD Garrett BB Hi-flow, M8274 + Bells & Whistles with plenty of fruit still on the list!

From memory the GU4 still has rounded steel arches but I have no idea if they are the same as the earlier GUs.

Found a couple of pics, sorry they are so small

Even if they do fit, I think they would look a bit weird unless you fitted the later model rear bar aswell. If you look at the picture above, the flare on the early model lines up with the bumper, the square one won't. Probably a bit more hassle than it's worth in my eye's anyway. I'm pretty sure that ARB sell flares that are nearly identical to the factory one's for your year model, they would probably be your best choice...

only the first roll hurts, then its a ride..
i used to work for nissan
and i say the flares from a series 4 probably wont fit the front gaurds as it is a different shaped gaurd, the rear 1/4's will fit as it is the same part for all the models just with differnt size holes for the tail light
your better off gettin the series 1 2 or 3 ones as they will bolt straight up (apart from the fact theres no holes in your gaurds for fixing but im sure you will work that out)
