MQ PTO

Post by macca81 »

i know, do a search and you will find, but done that and to no avail...

just rang up nissan to ask about whether they still do factory PTOs, the bloke told me they never did, so i told him to look it up coz i knew they used to have them as an option in the mines and he checked and low and behold, nissan used to make PTOs!.... but not anymore...

now i REALY want one, a winch to go with it would be handy also, but that comes after the PTO. does anyone know where to get one for an MQ? new or used?

any help would be VERY appreciated...

Was a topic on here a week or two about PTO's....search harder. :P

Yes Nissan made PTO's for the Patrol. Started back in the 1950's. On the G60's (1960-1980) Patrols they had a front rear and side PTO available. Then on the MQ/MK's (1980-1987) they had pretty much front only, although fire trucks do have Nissan made rear PTO's. The GQ was the last model of Patrol to have a PTO available....

I checked with a dealer in Bogota Colombia when I was there about getting me a new factory PTO box and winch. Still available! But the cost was nearly $4,000 US dollars!!

Screw that...instead I bought three of them out of New Zealand for about $1500 and that included shipping to the USA!!

For MQ/MK & GQ Patrols the Japanese made versions had a lot of PTO's. These are called a Nissan Safari. New Zealand has been getting Jap imports for many many years thus a lot of these PTOs can be found in NZ. Junk yards or the NZ ebay are you best bet. go to www.trademe.com and search for Patrol and also Nissan Safari. Don't see any then check back 2x a week.

Aftermarket PTO's have been made for Patrols since 1960 and possibly up to the GQ series. In Aus. the most common brand is Thomas. They are floating around but no idea how easy to find.

I am in the USA :D
