97 j20a vitara rear main seal?

Post by atari4x4 »

walked up to my 97 j20a vitara today and noticed an oil slick under it, on closer inspection its coming from my rear main seal like its going out of fashion! just what i need before a long weekend. it could have waited until my transfer gears were here then there would be another reason to install them asap.

does any one know the part number for the real main seal is on a j20a?

is it that much of a job should i send it to somewhere to be done?

while the gearbox is off i guess a clutch is probally an option too.

thanks cj, once again!
stupid thing was fine one day, gone the next. it lost about a litre of oil in 50kms, where i parked it looked like exxon val des all over agian. i want to get onto it asap due to the amount of oil in the bellhousing contaminating the clutch.
