FAT tyres
I don't know what this thread is supposed to be about?
I think 9.5 tyres a great on sierras, but have driven and built cars with up to 14" wide tyres and they work great in the right conditions.
At 31" tall, you're pretty much talking 10.5 wide or nothing, so unless you go to 16" rims, you won't have much option.

I don't think the problem is with the width per se, they are "only" 13.00, but the height/width ratio is all wrong.
I understand these tyres were developed specifically to get a 12.5" tyre under a wrangler with no lift
for the US market.Personally, I can't see them working very well generally, short, wide tyres have poor directional characteristics (the car will not respond well to steering on slick surfaces) It's one of the reasons I hate 33 12.5's for victorian conditions.
In the dry and on rock they will be fine. In mud with depth, they might be fine. On slick/greasy stuff they will suck, and they might even suck on powdery loose dirt too.
such a shame BFG don't make the 33 9.5 muddy any more

I have them on my Patrol. They didn't cost a premium to get them, but damn they were hard to find. I got three in Melbourne and the other one had t come down from Townsville. Which is strange as a mate who also bought them about 6 months before me had to wait for one from Townsville as well. I guess they must hoard them. I am getting some new rims/tyres in 30x9.5x15. What offset should i use?
I have used 31x10.5x15 (not sure of the offset as they came with the car, and didnt seem to rub, etc).
Is there anyway of finding out from the rim itself?
Wider = larger arc, which can mean more rubbing... Wide does look bling tho!

oh, and 10.5 seemed wide enough for what i was running - and same as the other guys have said - 31x10.5x15 is the easiest to find.
(only reason going for 9.5 is that the 10.5 are dead, and the 9.5 were slightly cheaper).
Comp rig/trail blazer with all the trimmings will tell ya otherwise, but stock zuk, with 30x9.5 has worked very well for me (DD, with occasional weekend farm hack).

I currently have 31" x 12".5" x 15"
They only rub in the guards a little under load in a corner downhill but thats cause i have got a body lift.
The best tyres i have found are the BFG Mud Terain 30" x 9.5" x 15"
Havent had any dramas with them rubbing anywhere at all with only a 2" suspension lift and a little trimming of front bar.
I would like 33's but hey only the future will know
