Hilux LSD?

Hi

Just trying to work out if my hilux (98 Dual cab, LN167, 5L motor) comes with LSD diff or not? There is no sticker but it may have been removed when rust proofed.

Will it matter if it is not LSD and I have LSD diff oil in it?

It will be an LSD.
I think they pretty much all had an LSD around that age (all be it a pretty crap one :) ).
And no it wont matter if you LSD oil in a non LSD.

Easy way to test: Jack up one side of rear axle, make sure gearbox is in neutral, and handbrake off. Try to rotate the jacked up wheel with your hands; if it rotates easy and the tailshaft in turn moves, its an open diff (or a totally buggered LSD), alternatly if its too hard to rotate its probably a LSD (unless its welded or something).
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.

The LSD's in them aren't that great tho hey...

The clutches tend to wear after 20 or so thou...

Might want to ask a Yota god, but i'm pretty sure thats right.

yeah they are crap.
If you want to limit slip fit an airlocker.

had people in at work(tojo dealership) asking bout lsd in gutluxs, in the new models. the drive transfers to the other wheel after the first starts spinning, takes a while thats why the clutches wear out quick.
