Weight of a Vitara?!

Post by ant »

Another silly question. What's the weight of a 2 door soft top vitara? (old one not those new monsters). ACT charge your rego by car weight, and they have my GVM on the form as 1200 (kgs I assume). Always thought mine was quite a bit lighter than that, have they whacked on a few extra I wonder?

According to www.redbook.com.au a '95 JX soft top manual is 1075kg. JLX manual is 1096kg.

Earlier models weigh a bit less - but the figure depends on accessories like P/s and A/c.

Start at about 1020kg and add 5-10kg of crap for every option you've got - electric windows, mirrors, p/s, a/c, alloy wheels etc....

Add another 5-10 kg per year due to extra pollution control measures and sound deadening

hmmm, yeah I thought it was just nudging the 1000kg mark. No options, it's stock and plain. although the cast iron bullbar might add a few pounds! I might get onto the buggers and find out what they think they're doing. GVM is just the car's weight, from memory, and kerb mass would refer to all legal seats being sat-in by people and a full tank.

Mine is listed as 1450kg on the rego sticker but in victoria the rego sticker said 1000kg.

Obviously one uses tare and one uses gross mass.

Manual says about 1025 for early model softtop

Hmmm... 1450 = legal V8?? Have to take that one up with QLD transport.
