Ive seen people using these "contact packs" instead of the original solinoid packs on highmount winches in comps,

Hi, thought I may as well post up on this thread. I do sell them and can do you one for $215 delivered to your door, this is for a 12v unit. I can get 24v units also, pricing is the same.
Our experience with them has been fantastic in comparison to the old style four pack solenoids. We have run them on competition trucks (both our own and a mates truck in particular) for over 12months now and one truck has competed in OBC, Cliffhanger, Tamworth round of Xtreme Winch Series, Woodpecker and Willowglen, without a single problem, whereas he had blown the old style solenoids up in previous competitions.
The one problem I have had with the units I sell was with running 24v through the 12v units, I was advised by the manufacturer that this was okay to to, but they didn't cope with the massive loads on the winch, but hey any time you run 24v through something designed to handle 12v I guess its a gamble.
There are people on this forum who have had issues with similar units in the past, they are not the same units that I sell. But they are more than entitled to their opinions and I don't dispute any issues they have had with the ones they tried, I just haven't experienced thier issues. One issue that a person had was that the body cracked and leaked water inside causing it to corode, we haven't experienced this through all of the above competitions and playing hard as well, so I can't comment on that.

Laurie Griffiths is running them on his Bushrangie with two 6hp motors on 12volt, he is running one Contactor pack per motor. He was a very happy customer when I was talking to him after the OBC this year, I asked him if he was happy with the solenoids and the twin motor set up, he said they were fantastic. He got one of those Gigglepin twin head untis off Wayne Smith.
I am sure you could PM him on here to ask him for some feedback if you like, he is a pretty friendly bloke, his username is the same as his full name.

However I personally check each one before I send them out to ensure they are complete and in the correct condition ready to use and if there are any issues I am very flexible in rectifying any problems that may arise, I am working on building up a business so not aiming to burn my bridges with people by selling a dodgy product.

Yes I would use the 24v pack. IN the past I have had customers buy the 12v pack and run 24v through the pack to the motor and switch the coil using 12v, but I have had instances where the pack hasn't handled the 24v current and the massive loads associated with competition winching. We did have an issue with a solenoid due to the fact that we were using it outside of it's designed capabilities. While as Beretta has mentioned, and rightly so, there is no specific warranty i will say he was extremely helpful in our situation to the point where he actually came to look at the vehicle and the application. Although we do not use the solenoids on our comp car (the 24V wasn't available at the time) i'd have no hesitation in recommending them. The after sales service was commendable.gut42 wrote:hi beretta

I run them in all 3 winches I have on my trucks/cars incl. a high mount 8274 Warn equipped with the 5.6HP Bowmotor and also sold a very good number to customers here in Europe. They're usually good for 485 Amps of load in 12V. I still have to see one of them fail (the ones I sold though). I guess Beretta is selling the same ones (the manufacturer start with Al........) ?
