Newbie with ZD30 Question

Post by OTEP R »

Hi guys, I recently sold my '97 Pajero 4d56 M/T and got an '02 Nissan Patrol GU A/T with the ZD30 diesel lump.

I'd just like to ask if it's normal for the engine to be very sluggish when cold? I live in a hilly part of town and have to climb a grade to get to the main roads every morning. This has never been a problem with my old rig, but the Patrol seems to be very sluggish which is surprising considering it packs more power than my old 99 horsepower Mitsu.

Is this normal? Do I need to get anything checked? Once warmed up, engine power is good.

Thanks!

diesel's don't like to run cold, they don't burn the diesel properly, if you start it and go, your going to have no power, my 4.2 Diesel has no power for about the first 10 mins, it is very sluggish to take off cold.
