nissan patrol gearbox conversion
gday just wondering bout the patrol gearbox conversion into rangie
is there a transfer adaptor and who makes it
does the diff ratio matter it has 4:1s now or do i need standard
and is it just a nissan clutch
i have a vt cluby motor in it so i would need the plates from marks to suit
that but does the box fit in the tunnel or doews it have to be modified
i have a standard 5 speed in it now and it doesnt like a hard time
thanks for any help

Patrol transmission swap shouldn't be all that expensive.
The Patrol parts are cheap as second hand.
The hardest part is adapting the engine to the transmission and that isn't all that hard.
If you swap to Patrol diffs whilst doing it you will save money.
I'm doing my own and I figure max $1500 in parts and my labour.

The cost becomes huge, because you need an adaptor from the engine to the gearbox, the gearbox to the transfer, transfer has to be shifted so you have to mod your tailshafts, and the gearboxs have 2nd and 5th gear issues

I agree Patrol's have their problems but as a long term Rangie owner I've noticed Rovers seem have all the same problems but worse.
The only good bits in a Rover are the suspension and the transfer case.
The rest should be recycled.
I'll end up with a Rover chassis and suspension, some dodgy Rover wiring and a Rover compliance plate,
The rest will be Nissan, Toyota and an English kit car.
If someone makes a better tougher part use it. Don't stand there and say "it ain't a Rover bit so it's no good" cause I'll stand there and say "it's a Rover part so I think I'll just question its integrity!".
