What differences in there is the Hilux Diffs ?

Post by Brad »

I have been told that Hilux went with bigger brakes in 91 along with larger bearings in the carriers. Is this correct ?

What difference is there between years of hilux and their diffs ?

Is an 86 the same as a 90 ?

Talk front and rears here

Cheers,
Brad

As far as I know all open centres had the same setup re bearings (front and rear) it was just the gearing that differed. The larger bearings come in the factory LSD centres.

The larger rear brakes came out somewhere bout 91. Mine is a 91 and it has the larger brakes. Although I thought the change would have co-incided with the model change in 88-90 or whenever it was (gen 2 to gen 3).

The rear brakes that come with the IFS model solid rear diffs have a lager ID on the drum. When using the later model axles, I had to remove some material to make the drums fit.
