NL pajero swb questions

Post by greyzook »

Gday

I recently saw a SWB pajero GLS around the 2000 year model, and decided i want to sell the rocky and get one. I just have some questions for all you pajero owners.

What should i look out for when buying one?

What economy do the 3.6 V6 get? Is there a diesel model in the SWB?

How much to raise one a couple of inches?

Pros and Cons??? Off road capability?

Any info or feedback would be great. Thanks guys.

the 99/2000 model was the best shortie they made. there is no diesel model unless u import one, but the 3.5 v6 is a better engine anyway. exelent performance. They seem to hold there value the best of the pajero's so u'll be looking around $17000 for a good one.
They have an exelent lsd in the rear still might be worth getting shimed up though. and the driveline is very strong. with a front locker and some 33's shuold be hard to stop offroad.

lift kits depending on were u buy them from can range from $900 $2000 depending onm what u get and how high u wanna go. but with ifs theres always a limit.
i don't own one but my cus does. so the other guys will tell u what to look out for.

I had a NL shorty for some time. I ended up doing a 2" suspension lift with lovells springs and rancho 9000 shocks. (cost me $400 from memory as shocks were second hand). I also did a 2" body lift to fit some 35" claws. As I had an auto, the gearing was rooted and decided to go back to 33's with no problems encountered ever. Sourced a factory rear diff lock and fitted a ARB front locker and the paj would climb most things I pointed it at. I loved the auto offroad and with the lockers it made harder stuff look easy. Always had plently of grunt and never had any major dramas with it at all. I only travelled 40000kms in it and sold it to a mate of mine who still drives it today. It gets around 400kms to 60L of juice.

Great car and its the second best shorty I have owned and built. (my new one being the best).

The spoken vehicle may be up for grabs soon if your interested.... ;)

Some pics for you. Not real good but this was back when a 1.3meg camera was the best....

Only difference now is that it has 16x8 alloys and 285/75 muds on it. Oh and off course outerlimits stickers.

Just a side note, what if anything did you need to do to the front to get the 35s to fit?
