I own a 60. It has a low current alternator (approx 55 AMP). One day I decided to get the alternator fixed, something I was quite able to do if I had the right tools. Anyhow, drop the car off to the local auto elec and expect a good job cos he sounded like a good bloke....
Picked the car up the next day and wondered why my little volt meter in the car was reading 12.8 or so volts.... So grabbing my trusty multimeter and measuring the voltage at the battery I was still reading about the same as the voltmeter in the car. Wondering why this could be, I then measured the voltage at the alternator....HMMMM 14 volts (ish), I went nuts when I saw that the D!ck head had used about 15 AMP rated wire to replace the old wire that was running to the battery (caused a voltage drop). From then on I haven't let a single sole touch my car. My theory is "If they can do it, so can I !"
