New centres for my steel rims?

I have set of bead locked rims for my 80 but have decided they have WAAAY too much offset.. (the disc sits out the back of the rim by an inch and they are 10" rims...) so i was thinkin i could get the centres machined out and a new set put in..

can u buy centres only???

if so where from???

why coulkdnt you reuse the ones you take out?

i dont particulary want to use the old ones as the spokes are very steep and not the strongest set up

you can buy centres only, they are made by roh and suite a number of stud patterns and diameters.

i know your not up here in brisbane but maybe contact them and they could tell you a supplier or someone down there who distributes them.

I always thought toyota split rim centers in fat rims would look tough as nails - if your current rims are 16" i understand they should fit. Not to mention you could get them for nothing.

I know this isn't what you were asking, i just want to see it done before i spend the $$'s myself

I had some Suzuki 16" centres welded into Lada Niva rims to get the offset and rim width that I wanted. had it done by Neway Wheels in Heidleberg, whih again doesn't help the original post but does show it is possible

do you mean rims or actual, 1970's style bands? Banded rims are a pretty big nono.

I have sen some wide rims setup with split rim centres - a bunch of guys fromt he NSW landcruiser club used to come down to the vic clubs cruiserkhana and heaps of them ran wide rims with split centres. Looked good- I like the look of stock/plain rims.
