New frame?

Post by N*A*M »

I've been thinking about a full frame-off restoration on the Yella Varmint and I've found a some stuff a guy is selling (post '89 frame, wide track diffs, rims, springs, 5 speed gearbox, xcase, shafts, etc...) asking $1500. Pretty much everything but motor, body and some bits. Not bad so I'm seriously considering it. I'm begining to think that the Volvos would be best saved for another project so I wanna do up the Varmint as a learning project. What do you think about the frame deal?

what's wrong with your frame? The wt diffs would be good but if you're going to do an engine/gearbox conversion then the 5 speed is useless, the 1L transfer case with a rockhopper is a better bet, rims aren't expensive anyway and you'll probably be altering the backspacing anyway, springs are probably shot on a 13 year old car so you'll need newer springs. If it were me I'd try and get the diffs and that's it use what you have and get newer stuff for what else you need. I still think the Volvos are the go so i can buy the wide tracks. See everyone wins

How are the hood pins?

NAM you change your mind about what you are doing to the zook more often than you change your bloody undies!

Just stick with the original idea other wise it will never be finished and you'll have to sell you volvos for $500.00 because you spent ya money on other stuff.
