Which Autotecnica Boss Kit for 99 Hilux

Post by Micky-Lux »

I am trying to find an Autotecnica Boss Kit to suit my hilux, but the listed one doesn't fit. The indicator cancelling sleeve doesn't work nor is the fit too flash with the listed one.

The vehicle is a 99 LN167R Dual Cab SR5, and the listed boss kit is supposed to be #415.

Has anyone fitted a kit to a similar vehicle and does anyone know what the part number would be?

Cheers

I had a similar problem. Can't remember the nunber offhand but 415 sounds familiar. I have a '92 Surf and solved the problem with the indicator mechanism by cutting a slot for the pins to engage at 180 deg to the original engagement holes. Autotechnica steering wheels come in two screw patterns so I think that is where the problem is. Auto shops are no help when it comes to this.

Thanks for the reply, Nifty Nev...

I finally got the problem sorted...

As it turns out, there are actually three boss's that go by the number 415. There's one that has a funny plastic sleeve, no go. A SAAS one that fits the spline and indicator sleeve, but not the shroud on the column. The one I ended up using was an Autotecnica 415-alu, which sounds like the one you had. And following your advice, I spun it 180 degrees, and drilled a couple of 1/8" holes to fit the lugs on the sleeve. Works like a charm now..

Thanks

Yep. That part nunber may be it. I couldn't find the box which is still here somewhere. Mine is a diecast aluminium in black so that's probably it. Glad you got it sorted. Easy when you know what the solution is, hey. I had to remove and refit the bloody thing half a dozen times before I worked it out.
