GOT HYDRO?

Post by beebee »

I DO!

Finished the install of my hydro assisted steering tonight. Went for a drive down the street (bitumen) with the hubs engaged with my cig locker. All I can say is "what locker?"

The only side effect noticed so far is the slight delay in turning from one direction to another. This was only apparent when trying to swerve back and forth down the street and in parking situations. Once the rem catches up with the change in steering direction then you don't even know it's there.

Parked the car with a tyre next to a tree and turned into the tree......just pushed the car to the side!

Should prove to be one of my best mods so far.

Well done!!

I think HyRO is a great mod, however i also believe that it puts heaps more strain on other parts. i often think when i have a tyre wedge and i physically cannot turn the wheel then something would have to go bang!!!

Also the lack of feel.

Thats just my view, and i think its great that you have done such a great job and it works, i would like to have a drive of it (at the O/L weekend) as i am interested if any of the above mentioned concerns are relevant!!!

Got pics???

mlowe76 should be organising some pics for me.

I know exactly what you mean about the extra stress. Just on my short drive I dropped off the gutter and the backlash in the front axle went bang!

Should be a great test for those CORE CVs I got

After speaking to 1madengineer the other night, I probably should go a high pinion in the front like you pos, and run a secondary tierod under the diff. But knowing me, I'll wait until something breaks and they listen to all the "I told you so" comments.

Yeah thats a good idea, Cross over AND a second tie rod behind the diff!!!

I like it!!!!!!!

:) :) :)

I don't think the load on CV's would be any greater, its mainly the steering links, ball joints and mounting points!!

It shouldn't be too bad. I've installed my patented sacrificial overload component system - my welding

this would be awesome at breaking stuff, surely?
unless the ackerman worked out identical for each tie-rod?
