Info required: High Mount on a Tube Bar

Post by LuxyBoy »

Hi guys i am getting a tube bar made and i have a high mount winch already.

I am debating whether to get the tube bar made for the high mount because of the extra weight it will add to the vehicle. Thinking i might just sell the winch and maybe buy a small one or none at all.

Q: Has anyone noticed a loss in power and/or fuel economy after installing a high mount?

This is going on a N/A 2.8L Diesel Hilux

Any feedback appreciated :)
Kind Regards,
Brad

Get the tube bar, it will protect the front end and you'll love the highmount after the first time you use it. I couldn't go back to a slowmount, would rather pull my own eyes out. :D

I've hit trees with my tube bar at decent pace and just bounced off them, admittedly mine was built Coight tuff!

I know a high mount is much faster and hence nicer to use but does it affect power or fuel economy due to the weight :?:

$500

No it will not effect economy and power. You can always add rope later to lighten it. Highmounts are stronger, more reliable than lowmounts in my opionion. You can winch from a longer distance than the lowmounts. And having it when you do get stuck will be a big bonus. Put it on. You wont regret it. ;)
