Roll cages especially Same O's

Roll cages especially Same O's
I would like to know how much a Sam overton's roll cage is worth on his rock crawling beast is worth if he made it himself. as I would love one Just that prices of roll cages for rally driving in the past makes me think that it would cost 1k's, but is there a cheaper option. DOes anyone have a spare one he he! Oh and it would be for my 110 defender tdi Hardtop 1994. Also If I use the foot brake and accelerator at the same time as a traction/diff lock does it stress the crap out of my drive train or is it ok to do once and a while ie 7ish times a weekend. Or should I somehow find a secondhand diff lock fast?

The basic roll cage is fairly simple to make although the struts on mine that run from the A to the B hoop are a bit complicated and I wouldnt do it like that again (would just run straight tube and then put in small corner braces like we did on bj on roids new rig (search in members section for bj on roids rock rail). But basically that sort of cage is very easy to do if for sombody that has any experience at building cages.
As for cost, I really wouldnt know what it would cost to pay somone to build one but I could do it myself again in less than 8 hours. So say $500 labour and say $200 for materials. Give and take a bit and you can easily get to $1000 especially if they havent done one before.
Do you want to pay sombody to do the job or are you going to do it yourself??
As for using the brake and throttle at the same time shouldnt be a problem. Its the shock (bouncing) loads that you have to worry about not the smooth (relatively) application of the brake>

well I was thinking of doing it myself but i have never done one before. I was just going to borrow a mates tig and somehow get myself a pipe bender to use. But as you said it can be murder on someone doing it for the first time. If there where step by step instructions etc it would be way easier. I would get someone else to do it if it doesn't cost to much though as roll over protection is a high priority in a land rover especially off road.
Is anyone volanteering to make me one and how much
I live one the north side of bisbane ( Caboolture)
Even lessons would be good.

I think you are it. You should be able to hire a bender (bow and arrow bender will do fine) and you need to get hold of a mig welder (tig will be a bit slow)
As for the lessons can do them here. I got to make a exo for bobtails series3/unimog rig in the next few weeks and I can just take heaps of pics as I go along.
Is yours a ute cab?? does it have a tray or styleside on the back? What sort of steps does it have cause its easiest (and best) to attach to the steps if they are really heavy duty.

I love you he he
so I was going to make 4mm 40x80mm rock sliders but would incorporate them like you instead if I could.
Its a pretty stock Defender 110 Hardtop tdi 1994. I am going to finish making my custom B/bar when I get my hands on a Pto winch setup or cheap electric one from anywhere when I find one. I haven't got much Mula as I spent it all buying my truck.
Also what foes the Haltech traction control system cost? is it hard to make? Ie Buy the box make the rest etc.
As big kev says Im excited.
Also I have a Fishing website, and I wouldn't mind a bit to host the pics on the net for free. As I have heaps of webspace.
