Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer

Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer
I read about this thing in a 4x4 magazine. Has anyone in here ever tried this stuff? Does it work? Is this a bang-for-buck upgrade for my Feroza?

Are you talking about a hiclone

I think you'll find it's some sort of heat insulating spacer that fits in between the inlet manifold and the head. Supposedly they stop the inlet manifold from getting as hot. This means supposedly the inlet air temp is lower supposedly giving a power increase.
There's a lot of "supposedly's" in there......

It says on the magazine that it lifts the induction (carburetor for me) and therefore allows more air to be taken into the engine. It also has this helix bore that swirls the air the passes through it.
And no, it's not a Hiclone. It's Poweraid. I think it's manufactured by the same company as Airaid.

Yep, you can go to www.goairaid.com for more details about this thing.
Hey, I've found another mild upgrade on the net. It's worth checking out. I wonder if it works though.

They work as advertised...
Also known as throttle body spacers...
The helix bore is not necessary as has been proved with other designs.
For the $ they are n ok upgrade, nothing mind blowing though

Some one did some Dyno results on our forums as well.

You can find cheaper versions than the poweraid ones, but I only have experience with the jeep versions.
cheers

I think someone should buy / test the mini Supercharger to see how well it works

Andy, I've seen people using this sort of thing before. The one in question only draws 2.7amps, and can only supply 140cfm. It may give an increase in power at low revs, but will restrict and decrease top end power as it wouldn't be capable of providing any boost.
You can buy proper electric superchargers- they cost lots of $$$ and require thick battery cable because they draw lots of amps (in excess of 50A IIRC). I saw a dyno printout for a Charade fitted with one and it only gained around 7kW from memory- not worth the money!
