Old oil.

Post by toyotroop »

I have a 2H diesel and the oil after 5000ks is going all gluggy and black.
Is there anyway i can get all the old black crap out and put new oil in without it automatically contaminating the new oil. Also ive been using castrol rx super 20/w/50, been a good oil, but i wouldnt mind changing to a new brand for a change. Can anyone recommend one.
thanks. :)

I forget the name of the product but nulon make it. You mix it in before you drop the old oil and it comes out runny as, does a good job cleaning as well.

There is no 100% soloution to your problem unless you strip the entire engine down and clean every last orifice and oil passage but the nulon gear gets close.

Just because oil is going black doesn't mean its not working, you should be changing the oil at 5000kms on a 2H anyway. Also if you've had no dramas with the RX Super, stick with it, changing oil types can lead to dramas with oil consumption etc.

Hi there

Its funny I used to have an old 2h - but recently bought an old 60 with the 12ht engine (theres no turning back - great engine).

I used to change the oil evey 5000km in the old 2h engine and the post said above the oil used to be black as the ace of spades. The 12ht engine, I still change the oil every 5000km and its as clear and clean as the day it went in - why?

Well all the best

Because it's been well serviced and its in really good nick and its not being over fuelled. Sounds like a good donk. I had a turboed 4.2 patrol the same. Oil stayed clean for ages.
