Rancho's

Post by Le0n »

1 set of Rancho 9000x 9 speeds to give away.

Will fit the rear of a F300 Feroza. thats a narrrow track.

They are near new and the 9 way adjusters have been swapped with 5 way adjusters. Not fitted with rubber gaiters.

You come and get em coz there just as easy to throw out as anything else. I'm moving and everything is going out.

PM me. I live in Drummoyne.

I'll take them off your hands Leon if noone shows any interest before you move. I have a widetrack but will hold them for someone who wants them. Would hate them going to waste.

Paul, IIRC Leon's got an early '90's narrow track (?)- I know the wide tracks are supposed to have a different shock mount to narrow tracks; plus post mid '92 narrow tracks are different to the earlier narrow tracks- just to make the issue even more confusing!

That's the info I found when looking around for my shocks. Leon's should be the same as mine with a "pin" at the top and "eye" at the bottom for the shock mounts.

Thats right David and if you haven't got a 2" suspension lift your gunna belt the sxxt outa the top of the shock.

If nobody else gets there first Leon, I'll grab 'em. ....There are adapters available to make 'em fit on a wide track 8-) ....or I could put 'em on my Zook ;-)

I have Ranchos RS5000 on my Rocky Sportswagon. I had original Daihatsu shocks before. Installed Ranchos and it sees that ride comfort is gone backwards. Rougher and stiffer on normal roads and I feel every bump.Cornering has improved and there is less roll but thats about it.
On dirt roads really jumpy and going into corners where there is corrigation makes it uncontrolable.
Any suggestion what can I do to improve ride. Torsion bars and coils are original Daihatsu.
I'm even considering putting old shocks back.
What other brand of shocks would be more suitable ?

OK, I am getting them as AJ said they have adapters for the mount. I already have a lift on my truck so should be no dramas. Will let you guys know how I go with the adapters.

You could try Koni or Bilstein. The problem with Rancho shocks in some applications (eg Feroza) is they will give you what ever shock will bolt in. The internal valving isn't adjusted to suit the weight of the vehicle, spring rate etc which is very important. The Feroza fittment is the same as a Ford F Series!

Koni's are adjustable (no longer made off the shelf to fit a Feroza  ) and may be available for the Rocky. I've got Bilstiens and they give an excellent on road ride and have improved the grip over corrugations offroad.

Paul if u don't want the ranchos I'm still realy keen :D Leon.

I don't need 2 change the shock mounts on mine

One thing which has been mentioned paul is they r 2 stiff :finger: :finger:
might be 2 stiff for your rig
I've got coils under mine and the current shocks are way 2 soft or absulutly stuffed.
I reckon the ranchos will work well especialy when i get around 2 getting a softer spring rate in the coils.

Let me know guys cause I'm keen

While we are on the topic of ranchos I have a lift kit for a widetrack Feroza. It's a 2 inch lift consisting of heavy duty springs and torsion bars with rancho RS5000 shocks. Only done about 15,000km's. $700 ono.

Well, first of all my thanks to Leon for the shocks. They should work a treat.

I already have a set of rubber gaiters for them and am now tracking down the adaptors. :D :D

But here's the deal fellas. If I put them on and find them to be too harsh I will pass them on to the next person just as Leon did. I don't think I will mind the harsh ride but my wife might have something to say about it.

Anyway, if she doesn't like the ride she can walk.

But as a result I am now looking for a set of Ranchos for the front. If anyone has a pair they want to part with let me know.
