Bypass / Part Flow Oil Filters

Post by me3@neuralfibre.com »

My 1HZ runs a Z334 oil filter - combination full flow and bypass filter. Being indirect injection, it's a bit sooty. I am testing extended drain intervals at the moment. I know this has been done soemwhat before, but feel like tryign it with my engine.

Due to the cost and limtied capacity of the z334 I would like to replace it with a dual element external filter, or alternately a external byapss (part flow) filter, and run a Z9 full flow (cheap) in the factory position.

I have seen some kits on the web and discussed that tap into the oil pressure sensor port, but mine is already used for the turbo. I am reluctant to tap more flow off, as there are no numbers on flow rates and the port is fairly small.

I did once see a kit that goes under / inbetween the filter and the engine and taps off part of the flow to send to an external filter. I can't find a supplier for these.

If anyone is running somethign like this, or has done so in the past, I would love to know your experiences. Toilet paper fitlers included :)

Thanx
