Is this turbo compatible for a 4.2 TD6 ?

Post by sootygu »

Was hoping if someone could advise if a turbo with the following specs would be suitable for a factory 4.2 turbo upgrade. I understand the small A/R will boost it up quickly but are the wheel sizes and trims suitable.

GT2871R

Comp .61A/R
Ind 51.2mm, Exd 71.0mm, 52 Trim

Exhaust .47 A/R
53.8mm, 76 Trim

Cheers

I am not after massive power gains just looking at improving on the current set up. Have gone as far as I can with the mods to the standard system and that turbo is avaialble at a reasonable price. I have the factory T/I which apparently has the better pump for extra fuel. Would like to be around 115-120 rwk which I believe is acheivable without going to extremes.

I undertsand there is a bit of work involved like exhaust to turbo flange adaptor, water lines and new dump pipe.

Sooty we have done 2 conversions to bb so far. A third is getting done now.
You will need manifold to turbo adapter, a new pipe from a/f to turbo, pipe from turbo to i/c, dump, water hoses, a new oil line and drain hose. When done it looks factory. Your turbo you have selected is on the larger size of waht we use. We can also supply you with all the bits to bolt up, if interetsed, as well as the correct sized turbo.

We also have power and torque graphs to show the difference btween standard and after. You will be amazed. Its not a cheap job tho.
