Post by PJ.zook »

Ive looked absolutely everywhere, i cant find anywhere online where you can buy some kind of heavy duty latch/catch to secure a swingaway tyre carrier. Anyone have any ideas or know where to look??

I don't believe that Kaymar will sell their latch to others. They may have changed the design, but the old Kaymar over centre latch was Ken Jackson's baby and the reason why Kaymar carriers have such a good reputation.

This may have changed though.

All depend on what sort of thing you want. When I did mine I went to a trailer manufacturer in Kilsyth and they had several different types. Not designed for exactly the job you want but easily converted. I ended up using a spring loaded pin type.(No pictures i'm afraid to silly for that)

I remember doing this a few years back... I ended up getting a carr lane latch. Think I ordered it on-line from the US or something.

Ive bought an over-centre spring loaded catch i found at Schutties fasteners, its really heavy duty so it should do the trick.
The guy that owns the joint, cant remember his name, something Schutt, was extremely helpful and i cant recommend him enough for anyone wanting to buy fasteners, i rang him twice a while before i went down and he talked with me sharing ideas for ages over teh phone.
